Mother's Day - Bar Humbug!!
Comments
-
I bought my Mum a recipe book and a card. Including postage came to about a tenner- I sold some things on EBay to pay for it. She told me not to as she knows I'm on ESA and have little money but I was horrified at the thought of not buying her anything. She opened it this morning and it turns out it contained a recipe for something she loves but previously hasn't been able to make so she was thrilled.
I'm not keen on Mother's Day per se- I feel like it reminds me how inadequate I am that I'll never be a mum and I always end up crying remembering the six babies I lost. But Im very grateful to my own mum and I realise, for me, today it's about appreciating her. OH has bought me presents- 2 lovely bunches of pink roses and a Gap hoodie and t-shirt to cheer me up though. A card and some simple flowers are all that's needed.
Yes, when people complain of how commercialised it is, they are referring to Mothers Day, which in most countries is in May. Mothering Sunday, which is what we have, is part of the Easter calendar. The report button is for abusive posts, not because you don't like someone, or their opinions0 -
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

I don't care if it's commercialised or not. If its a day where I can put my feet up and get away with doing as little as possible for a change then I'm all for it!

I tend to point out to OH that how he treats me on my day off will be how he is treated on fathers day. Agreed. But the irony of your statement cannot have escaped you?
