  • What bank do you have your mortgage with again?
Do they allow you to make overpayments online and then let you see the new balance etc?
  • We're with First Direct. We have unlimited OP's, can send them online (though strangely only via computer and not the app), and you can see it like a normal account. We do have our main current account with them, so presume the mortgage account is visible because of this.

  • Thanks

Appreciate that - my 5 year fix is up next year with the Post Office and have started researching new products already - have used First Direct before and they still come up on the best buys quite often so could be worth looking into.

  • Lovely surprise in Mrs SJ pay today. An extra £300 as back pay for the last pay rise. That'll be go nicely towards the new fridge that we need!

It's also a reflection of the differences that Mrs SJ and myself place on money, as she was absolutely clueless as to what it was or that it was happening! Hence the surprise for me. :money:

  • Well thankfully the house hasn't floated away during the night!

Life is getting in the way of my diary at the minute. Long days at work, busy bits with kids, DD1 settled into nursery well but is shattered by Thursday, and a few niggly bugs that affecting my asthma and then sleep in the middle of the night.

Still going strong with TT's, and swept a few pounds of current account interest for OP during the week. Both paydays and have come and gone and we're now a couple of days from accounts posting.

All is going well moneywise, the house just needs ridding of these niggly germs...grrrr!! Otherwise a big red cross will need painting on our front door.

  • Thank you Suffolk. I am still breathing and all is well. Work is just crazy at the minute. I have a major project on that includes a 4wk trip away starting next week, so all my spare time at the minute is kids (and Mrs SJ, and pooch). I've also sneaked in a job application and that consumed some free hours :shhh:. And we had a weekend away last weekend to make up for me going missing for a month!

I am intending to post my September accounts this weekend. We are cracking on as normal with our financial plan thankfully. :money:

Relieved all is well at SJ towers. Great figures as always. Hopefully the expenses you incur working away will help in time for Christmas - I always found that we spent less at home with me or DH away but the diet went to pot while working away
