I agree with moneyistootighttomention.
When I used to frequent a few forums some some years back (2000 to 2010 ish actually,) they (3 of them actually,) used to let you join, but not post at all for 12-24 hours, and then you could only post (I think) 5 or 6 posts an hour. After your first 50 posts, you could post freely.
What about something like this?No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j
SPC #468Target £250 for 2015.

Its one of reasons I dont frequent these forums much now the constant spam is spoiling it for me. The lack of any action by MSE is regrettable they rely too much on people's good will on clicking spam button. Sorry MSE but you need to do more to control spam on here0

It has become a heck of a problem over the last few days on here - to the extent I always expect to see some spammer post or other showing up on the main list of sub-forums.
There are three of the little "darlings" at it right now merrily spamming away and I must admit my patience is getting tried at clicking "spam" on them.0 -
The problem is that without action it will just get worse and worse, this forum is I guess now known in the spamming community as an easy target and as we've seen over recent weeks the volume of spam is increasing.
MSEA, the spam button is an impractical method of dealing with hundreds of posts. Some of the forums end up containing pages and pages of spam.
As I mentioned early on in this thread, I am moderator on another forum where we employ software which denies registration to known spammers. It was mentioned that such systems would be ineffective, well it's still working over fine. Quantity of spam posted on our forum is zero, with quiet a few blocked registrations every day.
MSE administrators need to start listening to its members, rather than quoting ad-infinitum that the spam button is effective when it clearly is not.0 -
I'm on strike now too. I have had enough of the same old people who flood us with spam over a long period. I am happy to highlight a few here and there, but not the black magic etc.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

But, do you think they are reading this?
Do you think they even know that over 90% of voters don't like their new style forum??

Thanks everyone
As we've mentioned before, we have measures in place to block spam before it reaches the forum and there are more in the pipeline. For obvious reasons, though, we can't say what those are on here.
If you can all be patient, though, you'll hopefully reach a point soon where you realise you haven't seen much spam for a while (fingers crossed!)
Thanks!Could you do with a Money Makeover?
