First day of January, first day of challenges...
No alcohol - 1/28
No sweet treats - 0/31 Sorry, had pudding with lunchtime roast and 3 shortbread biscuits.Did have a wonderful lobster and prawn salad for dinner, though.
Walking - 1/31 just under 14,000 steps.
Been having a think about my savings target for this year and want to set it at £5,000. I know it's not as high as last year but I don't really know how this year is going to work out at the moment.2018 totals:

Sounds like you have had an interesting Christmas Alex, for all the wrong reasons! :eek:
I don't have any grand pearls of wisdom to impart, but it sounds like you are really growing as an individual and becoming more confident as you take charge of your life in a host of new areas.
Unfortunately this can often lead to conflict with loved ones, you are exploring all these new avenues and your wife is probably very used to getting her own way (which is partially on your bad habit of taking a passive stance through shame at actions from the 'bad old days').
Ultimately I am sure that things will work out for the best, it's just so hard to tell what that is sometimes, eh?
I am also returning to the books this year, although I'll be naughty and will be paying my fees with a 0% credit card (shhhh!)0 -

I always had Michelin road tyres on my Disco most of the time and a set of BFGoodrich all terrain on a different set of wheels. Both Discos I owned were D1s (same underpinnings as RR Classic). I believe yours is a D3? How many miles have you done on the current set of tyres? Are they wearing evenly? I got over 30,000 miles out of a set of road tyres on my D1.

Yes, it is hard to tell what is for the best. I will have to come to a decision at some point after we've had the counselling to see if we can work things out. She has had her way and she's done things that I shouldn't have tried to pretend never happened or blamed myself (had I done x, maybe she'd have not done y). I realise this is pathetic but I feel much safer not living in the same house at the moment. Do hope things change, though.

She's her own person, able to make her own choices. She may react to things that you do, but she always has the choice to do x instead of y. It sounds like she's done whatever she likes, damn the consequences (work evenings with colleagues, not spending time with/paying attention to LittleK, random holidays without you, etc), so it's highly unlikely that you behaving like a perfect angel 24/7 would have changed anything. (Perhaps even made her act out more because she had no interest in/ability to match your good behaviour? Pure speculation there though.)I realise this is pathetic but I feel much safer not living in the same house at the moment. Do hope things change, though.
Definitely not pathetic! If it gives you the physical and mental breathing space you need, then it's for the best. I'm happy you and your parents are getting along, so staying with them isn't an extra mental/emotional burden.Hope counselling/time does help you (and MrsK) figure out what's best for the future.

Good progress. Fresh air and exercise and getting up to take your son to school will all help with the sleep in the long run. If I can't sleep I listen to a relaxation or meditation app. I have some for the children too which have proved a godsend at times.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000
