I'll cheer you on and Join you with a dry (and healthy) January Alex
I'm also setting myself a target to walk 3 million steps next year, it won't give me the supermodel body I'm after but it's a start
Well done for holding things together and making what plans you can in this uncertain situation, looking after yourself is as important as looking after your ds.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
I'm sure nobody minds you posting Alex, mortgage or no. I think counseling would be a huge step forward for both of you, so I hope Mrs K changes her mind on that. Rug sweeping issues does nobody any favours in the long run.
I hope that's the case. I know I post a lot of drivel on here but it does seem to help clear my mind / get a different perspective.
Just seen your mortgage figure.Did you manage to clear it this month?
She hasn't said she won't go (to counselling), just that she thinks there's no problem, I should go back and we should carry on as if nothing happened.
Absolutely agree re. "rug sweeping issues" and a bit ashamed to admit that is why I'm in the current situation; tried to pretend nothing was wrong for fear of losing her prior to this point.I'll cheer you on and Join you with a dry (and healthy) January AlexI'm also setting myself a target to walk 3 million steps next year, it won't give me the supermodel body I'm after but it's a start

Excellent. You just need not go buying more Baileys now.My evening has been a brisk walk with the dogs and 20 minute core workout followed by some reading for my upcoming course. Drinking berry tea this evening, my father thinks it's hilarious but doesn't know he's going to be having a healthy January too. :rotfl:
3 million steps sounds an awful lot but I'd guess it's not as many miles as I'd imagine over a whole year.
Thank you.I think I'm starting to realise that it's not a bad thing to try to look after yourself.
2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Declaring my savings total for 2016 as £9,800.
A Frayed Knot shamed me into transferring the £10 over to make it a round figure. It's the first amount of money I've put away in a while now, so rather pleased I've done it. However, it's come out of my fuel budget.
I'm going to have a think about my target for 2017 over the next few days. I still wish to save and if the money eventually goes towards overpaying I will be pleased, if not I am sure I can find other ways to spend it, guilt free as almost all of my savings are extra earnings.2018 totals:

Excellent AlexLK !!!
Was just thinking back to the start of March when I challenged you to a 1 month target and before I knew it you were making your 2nd and 3rd :j Now just look at your statement above :T Can't tell you how happy I am for you, you are doing amazing.
I could join you for the dry and healthy month, but no way could I give up my biscuits/cakes and chocolate. No Way !!!
I'm going to have a think about my target for 2017 - how about - how quickly can I save £10Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
I don't know what Mrs has done but if drinking frees her to do silly things she will regret then I am thinking it sounds like a drinking problem.
However...don't want to dent the lovely positivity over here.
Great job Alex!0 -

Loving the positivity here. Despite your circumstances, there is great humour, not knowing if to be furious and roll about laughing at the latest from Mrs LK. I was kinda both. If she isn't going to engage with the counselling don't waste your money, I've said before I once went because someone else wanted it and it was a waste of time and money. Maybe insist she pays?
Love the healthy January, especially that you have your father on it too. Maybe there is some other kind of baking you can do with your son? Bread? Savoury stuff? Pies? Or even soup making which your parents could eat at lunch time.
Hang in there Alex, keep posting, so many are here on your teamMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Agree with everyone else re: the tone of the thread.
Also agree with Watty that MrsK needs to commit to counselling for it to work.
I've made these which are quite tasty and healthy, but still baking: http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2013/07/10/healthy-strawberry-oat-squares/ Could be useful for when you start your course as well, as you can grab and go. That reminds me I need to make another batch for January.0 -
Soup is a great idea, anything goes in it and you can use up leftovers that way.0

In my experience, children just love chopping up veg.0
