    Dear Diary,

I'm pleased to have added another £335 to the savings today, making my current total £6,335. In further savings news, thanks to Ed's advice, I have opened a Stocks and Shares ISA through a company he recommended. Whilst I am still waiting for the activation code, I am looking forward to making the step towards investing in the stock market. It's not something I've ever done before and I'm only going to be starting with £50 per month but that is better than nothing.

Today has been a glorious day but no time to enjoy the sunshine because we decided to treat our cars to a wash and polish. After that, we have definitely made up our minds that we are going to sell a few and buy just one car to replace three. We will still have four when the new car is bought, so not exactly carless :rotfl:. Mrs. K. is seriously considering replacing her 530i with a company car but hates the 2ltr diesel options that they all seem to have and the "downgrade" from a 5 series to something like a 3 series. However, the company doesn't really give her a great fuel allowance for her current car and the servicing every 3 months is driving me mad "you do it, I'll take the Triumph", she'll say with a sweet smile.

We have also been discussing the mortgage on the house and what to do with the house. Mrs. K. wants us to complete all the work that needs doing, pay down the mortgage after and stay here. As you know I'm quite opposed to staying here but I understand why she wants to; she's very independent and is proud to say that she bought this house, has worked on it and learnt new things. I wish I could be like that.

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.

We have a spate of new investors on the MFW board, here's hoping for an even longer bull market ;)

I had to look up what that meant. ;)

Expecting to get the activation code today. On the positive side, I've put a further £60 into savings so far this week.

Mrs K seems to have her head screwed on. Until you know exactly what you think, you'd be wise to listen to her. :)

Even if you don't stay, fixing the house then paying the mortgage is a good plan

Thanks, no more money saved today as I've had a full day doing the music teaching, getting paid to be amused all day.

Mrs. K. goes through phases of being very efficient before deciding she actually wants to spend everything she's got. At the moment, she's being efficient. ;) And, yes I probably would be wise to listen.

I was actually thinking about my house today as yesterday I was dealing with one of my parents' tenants and the thought occurred to me that there's no way we'd put up with the state this place is in if it were a rented house.

I suspect that is true for quite a few landlords ;)

You may well be right. I was quite envious of this little terraced cottage my parents let out; all the nice things about living in an old house with none of the problems, then I reminded myself about all the "junk" (as Mrs. K. calls it). :)

Savings progress is looking unlikely today (though something may sell on the internet) as it's more music teaching. At least that gives me something to amuse myself with, unlike the other business at the moment,.

    Wednesday 10th June, 2015.

    Dear Diary,

It seems only five minutes since the start of this year, yet hardly any of my plans for the house have come to fruition. Should the weather be nice tomorrow, I'll be using the day to spend some time on the windows with some renewed enthusiasm. Should summer finally arrive for a couple of months, I'd like to think that I could still get the jobs I planned done before September.

Financially, things aren't going too badly as I'm saving again whilst aware we're basically half way through the year already. Not really sure I will meet my £10,000 target though I have now activated the Stocks and Shares ISA, which is quite the move for me. Business is becoming an utter nightmare with my ex-business partner causing a lot of trouble, though my main business will not affect the savings, it does seem to affect my motivation to get on with things.

In other news, I'm starting to wonder if I've made the right decision about my son's schooling from September until he's seven. To cut a long story short, he's starting at our local small village school (under 30 children aged 4-11) because he is very reluctant about going and I promised that he could come home for lunch. At the time of making the decision I thought attending such a small school would help him settle into school life more quickly but now I wonder if it'll just make the transition at 7 even more difficult?

    Yours Faithfully,
    Alex.
