Beyond the usual drill, hammer and a few screwdrivers, I don't really own any tools. They always seem a bit superfluous when you live in a flat.
A lot of jobs require a few failed attempts which does cost a lot of time and sometimes money but I reason that once the tools are bought and the skills have been acquired, you will be able to do the job again.
House wise, the only things I won't attempt are the electrical / gas jobs as I do not have the qualifications. We work on our cars ourselves too as nothing we own is new enough to require plugging in to a computer.
Tools are another thing I like buying, so far we've a single garage full of tools and various machinery.2018 totals:

Wednesday 27th May, 2015.
Dear Diary,
I had an interesting appointment today which has finally given me some motivation to look forward, free from dwelling on my past. Really hoping things work out this time as I have not been in a good place these past couple of months. If I can start to get better, I should hopefully be able to start thinking a bit more clearly about the business and money.
Spent some time doing various minor jobs on the house over the past couple of days and tidying one room which is always a complete mess. It was hard throwing away some things I had no use for and are worth no money but have been in the house for a long time. At least it's a step forwards and pleased Mrs. K. (she's convinced I'm going to end up a "hoarder").
Yours Faithfully,
Alex.2018 totals:

Hi Alex!
Long time no catch-up
Sorry to hear Mrs. K. has been poorly and you're not feeling great in yourself. Having actually pushed myself to get some treatment for depression recently, I can totally agree with you regarding the provisions for mental health and I really don't think that's going to improve any time soon
Enough of the maudlin however....A DOG!! Oh I am looking forward to the tales of Little K. and fuzzy companionLabradors are wonderful, I grew up with them. You do realise unless you provide pictures, things don't happen, right?
Take care of yourselves!

Hello HBS,
I did wonder when you'd turn up...
Mrs. K. is fine now, she'd just caught a spring cold. I'm trying to make the most of things and keep myself busy as that seems to help. Tonight I didn't really know what to do so made two pies from scratch, Mrs. K. says she's excited to try them, I hope they live up to the expectation. :rotfl: I sincerely hope you find something that works for you.
The pups have not even been born yet and my son doesn't know that one of them will be ours (in case something happens to them and so it's a surprise). We should be getting our Lab at about the time my son starts school, so I'm hoping it'll keep me company during the days.2018 totals:

What colour are the Labradors? Lovely dogs, although I think we're more likely to end up with a Golden Retriever (I'd also love a Shina Ibu or a Beagle!)0

Sometimes that's when the best creative things happen! Hope they were nice. I'm just plodding along, been pushing myself to gym and also doing yoga, both seem to help alongside the meds.

They are incredibly loyal and love being loved. I am sure it'll be wonderful company for you!

Ooh please post pictures when you get them
I'd love a labrador or golden retriever, but as DH is definitely not a dog person, I doubt that'll happen

The pups have not been born yet and I think they can have pups of any colour? So, we don't know colour or whether the puppy is going to be a boy or girl yet. The breeder is my cousin who we visit 2-3 times per week, so all I hear about from my son at the moment are questions about the puppies (glad he doesn't know we're getting one yet, to be honest).
I like Golden Retrievers, they usually have a very nice temperament. Had to look up what a Shina Ibu was.Looks a handsome dog but I think the Japanese breeds require an experienced handler. Beagles are also nice dogs, in a way I wish we chose a more unusual breed but I know my cousin is very knowledgeable about Labradors and that they usually have a good temperament.

Thank you, HBS.Been really struggling to cope over these past few days but hoping that I'm starting to get back on track as of today. If seems the more I think about the world around us, the more I wish I wasn't a part of it.
