I think it would do my head in if I were a postman. "Oh this is the item I ordered from Ann Summers", me: "BYE!!!!!!".

I think the worst ones are
"oh I wonder what it is" As you are waiting for them to sign
"I don't want it if its bills" yawn

I've got to admit it's news to me that it's a British tradition to chat to the postman. I do hello's & thank you's etc to mine but I didn't know it was compulsory to have a chat.

My postman is always in too much of a rush. Same with the delivery guys. They often come late afternoon/early evening and I can see they still have loads of parcels in their van.

I have to say, pleasantries cost nothing, but I can't really get my head around announcing to him what he was delivering to you!

"Hey, these are the handcuffs my wife ordered after watching 50 shades..."

    No, no, no!

Whilst he might not have cared that the parcel contained Grai's new shoes and been thinking "So?" it was rude that he didn't reply to her direct question about the other package.

It was also rude that he walked away without even a "thank you". Even if English wasn't his first language, surely someone at the depot would have taught him the bare necessities - hello, sign here, thank you.
