Not sure I've got anything interesting to start Nursemaggie, I've been absent because I've been quite busy and stressed. Apologies for anything I've not commented on, I can dash in to read, but typing a reply on the tablet takes longer.
Work is now full time, until they recruit another staff member. Mostly its good, last week though I had to work with another branch member, who frankly is a bit of a cow. Had a terrible day. I'm doing 3 days with her this week, but have spoken to 3 bosses about her, know I'm in the right and should be able to handle her.
House reno continues on. We learned over the past 2 weekends how to do skirting and architrave. We have maybe another week of that yet. Lots to do. We even made our own mitre box (although they sell deep skirting here, they don't sell mitre boxes for it). Didn't want to use a compound mitre saw, working in a hospital gives me a whole new view on some power tools!
We fell in love with a rescue greyhound last week who we met quite by chance. We can't stop thinking about her. ... watch this space.
Love to all xxxSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
ooooh a potential new arrival! That sounds good softstuff (and sorry to hear about the cow!)Must use my stash up!0

Life seems to be full on for you Softstuff. I do admire the way you have tackled the house renovations. It's not much fun living in the middle of a building site and now you are working full time as well. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
Greyhounds are lovely dogs to have around, peaceful and not requiring as much exercise as you would think.
If it doesn't work out I could always post you a Dalmation puppy.
The family took her for a walk on the beach this afternoon and DIL let her off the leash for the first time. Apparently she was a very good girl and came back when called. I'm not sure that I believe that but they all assure me it is true.
They met her mother and one of her sisters while they were out, Dora's mother that is, not DIL's. Dora was not over pleased to see them.
We meet a few of her siblings when fetching Pickle from nursery. They have a sniff then studiously ignore each other.
I love all the talk about halogen ovens and am determined to have one when/if I move.
No, of course I am going to move if I can ever get this house into a state where I am not ashamed to let prospective buyers see it.
DS2 and I are fairly tidy mortals who like everything in its place. DIL and Pickle are decidedly NOT. The whole house is a tip of clothes and toys and there are far too many of both. I have had a straight talk this weekend and realise that DIL can't cope with coping with a new job and managing the house, so as from tomorrow I am rolling up my sleeves and having a purge.
It's difficult because I can't actually throw out things that don't belong to me so I'm thinking that I will fill bin bags with things I think can be dispensed with and seeing if anyone misses them. If the bags are undisturbed for a few months they can be disposed of.
Wish me luck!

Sorry you have problems softstuff. I hope you get rid of the cow soon and some other staff. Do have the greyhound they are lovely.
Mar and I have been busy knitting.
DD sent me this last night so I have at last managed to get 90 stitches on to DPNs without twisting them.

I think DD will expect it next week because I am a quick knitter but GDS will have to wait I just can't knit fast on DPNs.0 -
Hi all,
Monna , that sounds like a plan
Nursemaggie, i love the girly pink one , but I am afraid I couldn't knit if my life depended on it , was watching a link tonight about knitting on your arms to make a large scarf, it said it would take an hour , ... not it I was doing it lol , maybe about 6 weeks of trying to free myself from the huge knot I was in :rotfl:
Having one of those weekends , spent yesterday driving around the word with kids , think I did about 70 miles ...
Then today , football , I have honestly never been so cold , 3 hrs standing about .... The 50 min drive home we had only just started to defrost, but think I had brain freeze as on reverseI onto the drive , ds managed to move forward at exactly the wrong time ,so I couldn't see my mirrors ...ended up hitting the stone gatepost ! ... New bumper and rear light needed , temporary fix for now ...hey ho
First thing i have ever hit , in 28 years of driving ....
Money we will have to Find ,that we don't have ... my fault
Have started using a activity tracker , know I am doing ok through the day but was interested to see the sleep tracker , apparently I needed to be in bed by 12 midnight tonight , as I am only having about 2 deep hours sleep , 1 hour light sleep , interesting stuff .
Has any one else used one ? What did you think ? Or do they just state the things that we already know ?..
softstuff, hope you can manage the work colleague , fingers crossed you won't have to work to long with her ..?£223/ £250 GC0 -
Your house seems to be coming on softstuff, all these small steps will mean completion in the end. Sorry you're having problems at work, hopefully the bosses will sort it out.
Gosh burtha, you really need more sleep than that! Really annoying when you hit something with the car, at least no-one was hurt.
Good luck monna, if there's a shortage of black bags on the Island, we'll know where they all are!0 -
I've got hospital this morning to see the heifer. She is ok really, she has upped my dose twice when I've moaned at her on the phone, and now I'm finally starting to feel human again.
Only prob with the halogen oven is the RV is like a miser with a pile of gold and his "units!". Units in this house always come with an !! because he tends to scream the word at me when I go over his weekly target. I really regret the day I told him about this site and that the people on it count their units!! It's immaterial that I pay for the gas and that the gas is dearer than the elect, because only his units!! matter. Apparently.0 -

I wonder what the reason is for Dora ignoring her Mum and siblings? There must be something underlying it but I'm no Dog psychologist :rotfl:. You would think the scent of the mother would still be recognisable to them? Or Maybe it's because they have new family so have no time for their old one?
Anyways, I'm rambling, but found what you said quite interesting Monna.:o
Good luck with the sorting and tidying, as you say difficult to do when it's not your 'stuff''.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Monna, I'll forgoe the posted puppy thanks, Dalmatians are more than I can handle, as I understand it greyhounds suit my lifestyle more, sedentary. As regards the house renovations, I think they were partly motivated by unrestrained greed. I finally wanted a lovely house to live in, decorated by choice not circumstances. My first renovated flat was sold and assets divided in in the divorce, the second was renovated to sell. I'll be damned if I don't finally get to enjoy the result of some of the blood sweat and tears.
Nursemaggie, if we do get a greyhound I know who to ask for a knitted jacket
Mardatha, I'd black out the meter window so he couldn't see his units!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Mar - tell him you'll swap and pay for the electricity if you get a halogen oven. That should shut him up!
Softstuff - think of the money and grit your teeth! The job is contributing to you having the lovely home you want. I need to get hold of the builder this week - no way he'll be coming over in this weather (hard frost and fog) but I need to get things moving again. I've realised that a kitchen will make a massive difference to my quality of life.0
