shanks - or anyone else with a Halogen cooker - is there a website or foolproof cookbook I can use? I'd like to make use of mine at home as there is only the two of us and I think it would be more economical than using the main oven.
Just walked up to the local shops to get some fresh air and exercise and bumped into the wife of a friend of DH. Havn't seen her since last year so we wnt and had a cuppa together.....for about an hour and a half. Really nice and unexpected. I do love a bit of serendipity ;)

I just use the wee top oven of my LPG cooker but I think maybe the halogen might be a bit cheaper - and definitely easier to clean. Still thinking about it :)

Silvasava mine came with a small booklet that had some recipes in it. I just use mine in exactly the same way that I would use my oven for. It's just a case of reducing the timing slightly but it has a timer and a temp gauge so fairly foolproof well for me anyway. Nothing has come out burnt or dried out and had it for just over a year.
Sorry to hear your news burtha and Camelot

It's freezing here, minus 3, DGD went home a short time ago after making cakes and icing them.
I'm going to sit under my quilt and try for a nana nap as she woke up for a while at 1:30 this morning with a sore throat.
I had my car exhaust repaired and it only cost £20, but the following day I had to replace the battery, that was a bit more expensive but at least we had the money available to pay.
I've ordered an insert for my pressure cooker so I can make a layered meal in it, I used to do this when the children were small but got out of the habit, we are trying very hard to save money over the next few months as I still hoping to retire this summer.

    Hello
I hope you don't mind me joining in. I have a Halogen oven- bought a cheap one from Al#i just to try it. Very impressed and it has been used almost every day for the past year. As there's only me and DH most of the time it saves putting the big oven on.

Go for it Mar, it's the most used gadget in my kitchen! Saves putting the main oven on and you can see what's happening inside really easily.

I've been 'up north' for the weekend (Strathpeffer) to see friends. Mrs friend had a knee replacement 3 weeks ago and as her husband can't (or won't) cook I thought I had better see how they were getting along. I made a lasagne, chicken curry and enchiladas which seemed to be enjoyed - well I left before they had the enchiladas but they are too polite to tell me if they put them in the bin!

It's a 4 hour journey each way so I'm now trying to catch up with washing and housework I should have done over the weekend, it was worth the trip though, good to see great friends and admire the wonderful scenery.

    Welcome nannywidow

It is still quiet. I think everyone is waiting for someone to start a new subject. If it is interesting enough even the none posters post. We will have to come up with something good.
