All the talk about Halogen Ovens has interested me. Any advice on which is the best to buy please for a singleton?Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0

Hmm - used a halogen oven in the caravan and its now in the loft, mainly because I have very little workspace. I've used it a couple of times but certainly not to its full potential. I'm keeping it though as hopefully the kitchen is going to be replaced.........sometime,and I'll need it if I have no cooker. I do use my slow cooker a lot - love it as meat is always so tender when cooked slowly.
Can anyone here help me? I have a steam cleaner (large one, looks like a drag cleaner) I'd like to freshen up my carpets but not sure how to use it properly. It steams very well but it seems to me all I am doing is pushing the grubby bits elsewhere as it doesn't suck up - maybe there's a knack to it??Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Thanks for all help ladies.0

Does the steamer have a brand name Silvasaver ? I have a large vaporetto which is about the size of a henry hoover and rounded . I can tell how to use one like that .

I've had some devastating news today, the lovely lady I work with (and good friend) has been poorly for a couple of weeks and not been at work. Her husband came in today to tell us that she is terminally ill - bowel cancer with spread to the liver.
The only symptom she had was a pain in her side that started about the end of November. Her children (aged 9 and 7) attend the school we work in which makes it all the more difficult and heartbreaking.
Not sure how I would have got through the day without the support of my colleagues, they are a smashing lot.
Glad to hear the poorlies are on the mend.0 -
Camelot that's so sad , the poor family . Glad you have good work colleagues for support , hopefully they will be given all the care and help they need to make the most of what time she has left .
Just having a quick sit down , 2 lots of school runs tonight plus dgd has not long gone home, all children fed and watered , dishwasher on, animals sorted , just need a couple of loads of washing done before midnight , and need to feed dh and I when he comes in from work , and check kids homework ....
Shouldn't have sat down , should I lol .....
Right homework , please not Spanish or maths .....£223/ £250 GC0 -
silvasava - my steam cleaner says it doesn't clean carpets, just freshens them up. I guess it kills germs too.
Sorry to hear your news Burtha. It must be very stressful. I hope it keeps behaving itself, and who knows what advances in treatment there may be in the future - although there are no guarantees there are massive breakthroughs being made all the time. And for the moment you just have to live your life as fully as you can - something we ALL need to remember.0 -
Camelot - so sorry to hear about your friend x
Polly and Greenbee - need to look at the destructions! If it doesn't do the things I need it will be going!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Camelot: Oh poor you, and how awful for that little family. It is terrifying how suddenly these things creep up on people. You may remember my DIL's mother who had a twinge in her back while on holiday and within two weeks had been diagnosed with myeloma and a secondary tumour wrapped round her spine.
When someone has been poorly for a couple of weeks this must have been the last thing you expected to hear.
It must have been a terrible shock.
You will need all your strength and all the support from your colleagues that you can muster to care for that poor stricken family.
Love and prayers to you all.I believe that friends are quiet angels
