Oh dear Hester  I hope he understands that you will be moving to a one-bedroomed place very soon and will need to use the sofa when your DGC are staying over..0

Hester
Maybe he will be better out of a bad situation , carnt have been easy living with a alcoholic wife and a fil who hates you , maybe it could explain his behaviour??
Ground rules and a time limit ,sound the way forward if possible , :undecided
Had a few days off ,so trying to catch up with the teenage kids , ....why carnt they stay small , ... Small steps with dd , magic wand anyone
Think we are of to the coast tomorrow, if I can get them motivated, almost feel like I am dragging them out the house , .... to make it worse I hate the coast , my idea of hell is sand and horrid amusement arcades...never mind , just have to become a penguin and smile and wave lol ..... kids will never know

Oh my goodness Hester! What a terrible situation. Do they not have any children? I don't see how this is a responsibility you should have to take on. You have soooo many balls in the air as it is already. Surely your husband will lay down firm rules as to this being a very short term solution? I agree with Burtha... Ground rules and a time limit. Hugs from me to you!Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I'm sure it will be fairly short term, he wants to stay with FIL so he can be with his wife when she dies, she absolutely adores him and he doesn't want to abandon her.
This is a new thing for him, he has always been a selfish A'hole and I'm surprised he didn't walk out as soon as he realised she was ill, so he must love her.
They have only been together for about 7 or 8 years although they have known each other since childhood.
They have no children together, she has never had any, he had a son with his first wife, his son died when he was about 4 or 5 from complications arising from measles.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Hester I hope you're able to find just a moment or two for yourself each day during all of this!
Burtha:rotfl: I'm just picturing you doing a penguin walk trying to avoid getting any sand on your person. I hope it is more fun than you expect.
I went for my walk in the morning yesterday as there was rain predicted for the afternoon. It was a nice walk, nice enough that I wasn't upset when I was jumped on by a dog with VERY muddy paws. He was being friendly but added considerably to my washing pile. After work I did a bit of sewing. I'm feeling exhausted at the moment as I keep waking up very early in spite of the blackout curtain and eye mask.
Today is a gym day and then I think I'll have to rouse myself to cook as OH has been doing most of it. I've left the menu plan in a pocket somewhere so I'll have to try to remember what else is on it. I think it might be salmon tonight as I'm not sure I can be bothered to make bread to go with the soup.0 -
HESTER love, I find myself asking the question 'Who is going to pick YOU up when you go under?' It's possible to drive yourself on when need arises but I'm pretty certain you don't have a great deal more in the tank to keep going at the current pace and sorting out everyone elses lives for them. You are a GOOD woman in all ways, you are a selfless woman and give of yourself freely and completely and it makes you a member of this human race to be totally proud of, a role model for ALL of us, you ARE also only human in all its frailties love, don't drive yourself into the ground and break your health and spirit and zest for life which is apparent in everything that you do. You are allowed to say NO sometimes and no matter how hard that is to live with I feel you are perilously close to the point where saying NO will be the only option. You've done more good in your life than a whole bundle of us ever achieve, be kind to you too???0

If I send you some nice weather JULIETTET it will have to come in a parcel of runner beans, courgettes and blackberries, on those conditions you can have as much nice weather as I can squash into the box!!! xxx.0

I was just updating my diary and noticed I have Perseid written in for tonight and tomorrow night. This year is supposed to be particularly spectacular with up to 200 shooting stars an hour visible--if you don't have too much cloud cover. We managed to see a couple last year from our back garden around 10 or 11 without hanging around too long, if I remember correctly.
The CBBC write up about it gives some nice details.
