I hope I am not talking out of turn as I have only just logged onto this thread and read the last 2/3 pages. But had to say to Hester who I believe is selling her house, that anyone over the age of 18(I think) has to sign to say they agree with the sale. I know my eldest son had to do this years ago when I was selling so it's not a new thing. Was told at the time this was introduced to prevent families selling elderly relatives homes without their consent. But like a lot of laws it throws the baby out with the bath water and same law is now for everyone. Think it maybe worth asking the CAB if this would affect you if you still had this chap lodging with you and you haven, got rid of him before you are ready to move on. Hope you don't mind me saying.

  • Lyn we make lots of zucchini bread with our overload and freeze for later use.

http://theenglishkitchen.blogspot.com/2012/08/courgette-loaf-zucchini-bread.html Here's a nice sounding recipe with British measurements.

I also like to use the larger ones as boats for bolognese sauce and top with cheese then bake. If they are very big you can roast them some first.

They are good cut up and put in pickle juice for a while in the fridge along with red chile peppers. I think you heat the leftover pickle juice first and pour it over the slices in a jar. Can't really remember but I'm sure it's on the net somewhere.

So... Our contractor has now accidentally seen me naked. Life doesn't get any better than this.

Hester, I wish you all the best with the situation and handling it as you see fit. If karma was a thing you'd have accumulated enough to live out the rest of your existence in soft cushiony comfort.

Apologies for little further comment, up to my neck here.

I wouldn't mind at the end of a job MTSTM, but he seems to want a standing ovation 4 or 5 times a day. And spends endless time swearing, grumbling and sighing. I'm not one to believe in "bad vibes" but he's filled the house with so much negativity I feel like wafting a sage stick around after he leaves :rotfl:

My Mum once had a plumber fitting a bathroom who'd been recommended by a friend. He was slow, unpunctual etc, n she found him crying in the bathroom one day, as he was missing his family. They only lived 4 miles from Mum's !:rotfl:

  • Softstuff, I had a mouth full of half chewed cashews, which I spat out, when I read your first line I was laughing so hard! Oh my goodness gracious!:rotfl::eek::rotfl::eek::rotfl:

:rotfl:. I've been astounded to find a distinct tendency by workmen to tell you about their personal lives/have wives come around/etc since moving here. It hasnt just been me - as a friend of mine also commented that she was astonished to find this and to then have them not turn up when due (ie because of something going on in their personal life).

The only thing I knew about any workmans personal life ever prior to moving here was that my plumber/heating guy was divorced and being a "single parent" family with help of his mum and that was only because he was my "regular" and turned up every year to service my central heating and also for anything that cropped up in between and had been doing so for years.

    Softstuff - :rotfl::rotfl: what can I say...

We had a lovely evening yesterday, went down into Cowes, via the Northwood House Gin Festival, we arrived just in time to see the Red Arrows display right over our heads - being on the south coast, we see them several times a year, but they never fail to impress - absolutely amazing :D

I was very restrained and was back home and in bed by 11, Hubby made it home at 2  he,s not too worse for wear though :)

It's the Cowes Week Firework display tonight, all the kids will be in town to watch, we,ll watch it from home - far too busy for me

    Morning All!
Lovely to 'see'you back Lyn!. I no longer grow courgettes as I help others out with their glut lol!
Softstuff - just think that all these trials and tribulations will become very amusing anecdotes in the years to come ;)
Hester - sending you vibes for your mental and physical strength x
FP - hope to see the Perseids tonight. DH & I watched them a few years ago on a little caravan site near Axminster - no light pollution, beautiful balmy evening and a stunning display. We were the only ones watching them as we could see the TV's flickering in the other vans :(
Busy week ahead - friends 70th on Saturday, Motorbike show Sunday, Quiz night on Monday and Tribute band Tuesday - there's other stuff going on too but I shall see how my stamina lasts lol!
Just a quickie - had acupuncture for the first time on Wednesday in a deep muscle in my bum that's been giving me gyp and kept waking me at night. Was a bit apprehensive but so far a vast improvement. Got another session on Wednesday so very optimistic.
Have a good day all x

I apologize for your lost cashews Mila, next time I'll ensure you're eating a cheaper nut before I make you spit out ;)

I can scarcely take anymore. He f'd at me before leaving in a huff this evening. Apparently my tiles are troublesome.

Wine, spritzer and whisky this evening. I won't care what the bathroom looks like in the end I'll be in AA.

MTSTM and Candygirl, I once had a plumber at the flat in England, he came to replace the loo and sink. On day 1 he announced his dog was going to have puppies and he was too excited about it to work. Part way through day2 he !!!!!!ed off to see the happy event. He came back a few days later with the glow of a new dad and spent half the day phoning home to check up on the puppies.

If I get through this renovation, it may be the last. Though we are presently joking I should get into interior design, because it is starting to look good :rotfl:
