Hi all,
Playing catch up again so hope all is well with everyone , only quickly read through the last 10 page's or so ,
Monno well done for going back to move forward , horrid but now hopefully all in the past x
meet up sound like it's going to be fun
the last few days/weeks have been hard, seam to have got dh and kids through it ,without cracking up ,sure I must have appeared to be a cold hard faced *....** but had to get to today before I can crack, had a few tears reading this thread, you lot remind me that the are normal people in the world ,the bunch of idiots(please feel free to replace with stronger wording) that are dh "family" are a disgrace ,flaming horrid bunch of scumbags, 4 hours in there company then we escaped , didn't think anyone could be as bad , bullying, inappropriate coments and behaviour, disrespectful in missing people off mil history, I could go on and on
so hard to watch what they did to dh and remain respectful and carm ...
so having given a lot of thought to the question of my mil , yes I liked/loved her, yes I will miss her and for that I am sad , and sad that dh has lost his mum , as for the rest of them they can go rot somewhere , no doubt we will get a text from them with a request to our share of funeral cost , but after that dh will be classed as a only child , who has a flipping great home life with kids that love him ....
now I can crack for 5 min .....normal day tomorrow

Well done, Burtha, you got through it, dignity intact. Why don't you use today to be totally self indulgent, cry, shout, throw things, eat chocolate, whatever....release all that rottenness that has been building up. Then tomorrow can be a brand new start for you, your DH and your family. If They Who Shall Not Be Named contact you for a share of funeral costs, hand it over with a silent wish that they will receive the joy in life that they deserve, then move on. It sounds like you have been a sterling example to your children of how decent people behave. One life - your life - live it!0

Burtha: massive hugs for you and your DH. You did so well to get through 4 hours of sheer hell. What a horrible experience and you cant help but wonder what causes people to behave like that.
I once went a funeral that where the wake was unbelievably ghastly, family members trying to outdo each other in loud crass remarks and crude stories. I can imagine how you had to grit your teeth to keep quiet.
Lines drawn under things will enable you to move forward and make up to your DH for what must have been a fairly stressful life before he met you. You are right, normality can be a blissful relief. Enjoy it.
Softstuff, I am in awe of your sensible, organised approach to packing. Me, I could cover any emergency short of nuclear annihilation.
The Sun is shining at the moment. Why does tablet think that I am referring to the publication much favoured by my DS (for some obscure reason) rather than the yellow thing that occasionally appears in the sky. Answer comes there none.
Hope to go to my sewing group this afternoon but will probably be put into detention for not doing my homework. I did manage to retrieve my sewing stuff on Friday but the sewing machine was denied me. The rest is residing in my friend's garage and I will have to negotiate a lift up there to bring it back. Also I have my knitting box but mysteriously all my patterns, collected over years, are not there. Goodness knows what has happened to them they may turn up sometime.

Very quick post to say Well done to Monna - I hope having your own belongings again will help you enjoy the new phase of your life x
Big hug for Burtha . These people are not worth headspace . You have your husband and children and that is all that matters .
Hope everyone is well , the past week and a half has been difficult here . Youngest daughter has been very ill and in a lot of pain . She is pulling round now so hopefully things will settle .
Wishing Nurse Maggie A Very Happy Birthday and many more to come .

Burtha, times like this you deserve a glass of wine and a fervent wish that karma will one day bite them in the 'arris. Took 12 years for karma to bite some of my estranged relatives, but I have to say my patience was rewarded, so I'm wishing you the same.
Am all ready for offski now. My physio gave me a final bruising before the trip to ensure I sit uncomfortably, my handbag is packed, the freezer is full of food for my best beloved and I'm pretty sure I'm as prepared as can be.
Looking forward to seeing you both Floss and Nursemaggie.
Love and hugs to all

Nursemaggie, I had a note in my diary that it was your birthday today and still didn't remember when I posted. It's a really big birthday too. Have a really lovely day. Spoil yourself, no one deserves it more.

Happy birthday nursemaggie
pollyanna So sorry to hear about your daughterGlad to hear she's starting to recover. Very best wishes to her. My own daughter who's recovering from peritonitis is astonished at how much better she feels compared to even a week ago. She knew she must be getting better when she started to be really tired of being ill!
burtha So glad it's all over! Hugs to you all.
monnagran So sorry to hear you weren't able to get your sewing machine, unbelieveable behaviour
We sadly lost our dearly loved cat on Friday, so will be taking the food and a brand-new pack of flea treatment to morrison's to put it in the animal rescue box. He was a very friendly and intuitive cat and used to go in and visit the neighbours, so a lot of sad people in our part of the roadWe will scatter his ashes in his favourite spots in the garden. We haven't done that with any of our previous cats, but this one had so much personality that it feels positively disrespectful to do anything else :A
