Welcome Lilysue, your name sounds like you should be in the Dukes of Hazzard!
Funnily enough my friend who used to call me Lily was from the States, she was a real Southern lady and thought that a pretty little thing like me shouldn't be a plain Sue, so she always called me Lily or Lily Gracious ( l thought Lily Gracious sounded a bit big headed so didn't like to have it as my username). SHe was lovely if a tad delusional, as l'm a short solid middle aged woman and have never been a pretty little thing
I love all your chicken names, my Mum's family had a pet rooster called "Cheeky Boy" which doesn't really fit in with the scheme of things, but he had quite a personality and was much mourned when he was called upon to provide the wedding meal for my mother's sister....this was during the Second World War when times were hard, which kind of explains serving up your pet as a centre piece...but my mother still harbours a grudge against her sister for this!0 -
Hester, it sounds like you're having the kind of holiday I envy, so please have a little dance on the tables for me.
Feels like I lost the plot yesterday, nothing serious, just lots of little things went awry, feels like not much got done and I had a flu shot. I always get this way before coming to England though, I'm concentrating so hard on trying to leave enough precooked meals for hubby.
Monnagran (huh, how bout that, it let me), reading that you're practically teetotal makes me think even more you should take up home brewing. Or distilling. Moonshine?
I'm considering chickens, so have never named any. I suspect they'd have very human names, since that's what we also plan when we get a pup.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
We had lovely meal last night, one of the best so far this week, I had a small lemonade. The walk home was extremely muddy and I was sliding all aver the place, well I'm blaming it on the mud anyway.
I didn't dance on the tables Softstuff they weren't strong enough to take even the weight of my delicate and fragile frame!
It's 4 degrees here and not expected to get above 10 degrees all day.
We are hoping to go to the Barley Mow today for lunch, and we need a brief visit to Tesco as well.Chin up, Titus out.0 -

It must have been the bubbles in that lemonade Hester gone to your head. Stick to plain water next time you are obviously very sensitive lol.
Enjoy your lunch, wether not great here but have to take the dog out regardless. Have a good one everyone xx0 -
You need a hostelry with stronger tables Hester. And lemonade without adulteration is obviously not suited to your constitution. Be sure to water it down with some vodka next time.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Hej Hej we're finally back home and glad to be so after such a super holiday with Nell. We took her home on Tuesday and had tickets to a talk by Gordon Buchanan last night which was outstandingly good but she's got loads of marking etc. to do before term starts again next week so left early to give her some 'work time'. A good run on the motorways and I've just been down to the Co Op to stock us up again as we took the bread and milk up with us and the cupboard (and fridge) were bare. Going to spend the rest of today getting sorted and finishing the ironing of things we took for Sweden and then spend some time meal planning as I'm really down on veg, we seemed to always have salad but not cooked veg so I'm steaming loads for supper tonight. It's nice to be back home with 'my' things again and lots of new ideas for bringing a touch of Sweden to the home starting with going up the garden when the rain stops and gathering up fallen birch twigs from next doors trees to make a birch wreath to go in the wall, every home had one so we will too! Lots of candles out there too as a tradition mainly because of the very long dark days in winter time so rather than having masses in store I'm going to use some of mine rather than have them as a standby for power cuts etc. Keeping the Swedish theme going by making open sandwiches for lunch and we've discovered that it's the custom out there to eat them with a knife and fork which makes the exercise SO much easier than picking them up by hand and having the topping slide off as you bite into them!!! We live and learn playmates, we live and learn!0

Hi Ivyleaf, yes we are on a narrowboat, currently at Newbold, we just had lunch at the Barley Mow and are a about to set off for Hilmorton.
I have a few friends on Facebook who seem posting 'I'm abroad please burgled me' posts, maybe I'm just paranoid.
We are having a great time but is is very cold and wet.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
