Thank you all so much for the warm welcome, l shall endeavour not to lower the tone of the place, and will always type with the wonderfully posh 1950s accent that a year of elocution lessons failed to give me ( my mother panicked about my Norfolk accent when I was seven years old and wasted a lot of money attempting to eliminate it!)

    Me too :)

Lovely to see you... I think I remember you from the Flylady thread a VERY long time ago (has to be... I haven't cleaned anything other than building dust for years...)

Eccentric, moi? That is how dd's psychiatrist described me and I always thought I was normal!

Welcome to LilySue - You will find this a friendly place . One day at a time is good when you have a lot to cope with . A little tip don't be taken in by a certain lady who constantly reminds us of her moral rectitude etc . Also keep an eye on her friend Hester and never ever mention binmen !!!
Lovely to welcome you back Lyn . I am so pleased you had some success with your search . You must be so happy and looking forward to further research . I will look forward to seeing your pictures and I hope you sleep well tonight . If you haven't caught up on the posts I would advise against - otherwise you'll never be able to look at the binmen in the same way again .
    Ivyleaf - Good on your daughter , she's a brave girl .
Nurse Maggie - Things seem set fair for your son . I really hope all goes well .
Take care all - I'm trying to catch up on the threads so will see you tomorrow .

Burtha - roll on the day of the funeral! You and your DH will be able to say a respectful farewell to his mum, bring some closure to a very sad episode in your lives, then go home and raise a glass of something as a toast to her memory. Then raise another glass in celebration of the fact that you need never have dealings with those specimens of pond life ever again.

Until then, I hope you manage to get through this "limbo" period that exists between death and funeral.

Welcome back, Lyn. What an amazing 'coincidence' meeting someone who could help you with your research. I can't believe you have gone back so far. Have you found out what your ancestors did for a living or did they all work on the farm? I am in awe of anyone who has managed to find out further back than their great grandparents.

Burtha, hope that you and DH are ok.x

Darling Hester, don't ever get normal, purlease. That would be so disappointing. And don't read pollyanna's post, she spoke most disparagingly about you and some other person who I haven't identified yet.

Nursemaggie: I am so glad that your DS is doing so well. The cost of new clothes is a small price to pay for being so much stronger and fitter.
I don't think that DVD will be too thrilled with the bag. It's not pink.
Poor little girl, the tablet is convinced that I should post her in the machine under the TV and watch the resulting film. Probably Frozen with my luck.

I think I'm due for an early night. I'm supposed to be giving a talk to a group of women tomorrow and I've not decided what to talk about yet. Ah well, an hour of me yattering on about nothing in particular should send them all to sleep. Then I can tell them how they have just missed this brilliantly thought out and spellbinding talk.

Monna why not spin them a tale of life on t'internet...or then again, maybe best not to!

What about your wonderful DGS and the challenges that have been overcome, ending with Dora?

Good to have you back MrsLW, looking forward to the piccies.

Welcome to the Fence LilySue, good to have you.

Elona, my fingers are also crossed, but my toes aren't that bendy.

NurseMaggie, good luck with the dentist hunt. My mother is apparently trying to see one this week since her crown popped off (quite literally and with a bang apparently). Already trying to stop myself calling her Juanita when I get there. Don't let DS tell his employers work's doing him as much good as the gym, they'll dock his wages for gym membership.

Hester, I thought you had to be rich to be described as eccentric? Us commoners are just nuts.

Shanks "casting aspersions", is that like fly fishing?

Greenbee, building dust is a phrase that makes me shudder at the moment. Finally on top of it from having the wall down. At least that's what I think until the light catches another patch.

  • Morning pals, what a difference a good nights sleep in your own bed makes, we're taking Nell home today so I'll catch up with you when we're back. Hope you all have a nice day and some sunshine, we currently have some here which is not what the weather forecast promised us yesterday, I'm enjoying it while it's around!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.
