Mrs CD - I immediately thought of Dora Explorer too! Lovely name for a boatSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Silvasava: The boat is called Dora. Not sure why but its quite a relief. I rather feared that it would be called Ramsbottom which is his word for anything good and happy. Anything bad and horrid is Porridge.
Ladybird sounds a good name. I have friends who called their boat 'Ridiculous Extravagance'.

Oh burtha I am so sorry, thank goodness your OH is nothing like the rest of them. Through all this you are better than them and as you say, you need not see them again.
monna, your DGS sounds such a delight, hope he has many a happy hour in the boat.
I've been and bought strong cheese and pork pies to take to DS2, apparently Holland doesn't have decent cheese! He loves pork pies and I think he could get them in M&S over there but they cost a small fortune. Really looking forward to seeing him although he is back from Taiwan today where he's been on holiday, hope he isn't too jet lagged.0 -
Thank you so much Living proof, I have been looking for a personal mission statement for ages now.
"Slopalongplacidly" fits the bill perfectly.
I will endeavour to live up to this worthy aim as long and conscientiously as ever I can.

Afternoon playmates, just back from the airport and having a cuppa while listening to our undies going round in the wash! Sweden was absolutely lovely, we found the farm in the valley where Grandma came from and it's such a beautiful place and of all the luck met a guy out walking his dog whose hobby is genealogy and Nell had the family tree for Grandmas side of the family back to 1500 and something which he looked at and knew some of the names from his own family history. He still lives there and thinks the farm, which he identified from the landscape in the photos is still in the family as the surname of the family there now is the same as Grandmas. He's got a database of 75,000 names and has given us his contact details so we can check anything we find against his information, magic, I don't believe in coincidences and I think the ancestors want to be identified!!! Our flight last night was the last one out of Gothenburg and we had a delay on the incoming flight from Gatwick so we arrived back much later than anticipated but luckily Nell had booked us a room in the Bloc Hotel inside the terminal which turned out to be very comfy and quiet although it was a short night as we were still travelling for a while after we landed. Nice to be home again and I'll try to pop some photos of the Bohusland Coast and Islands on when Nell downloads them, such a beautiful part of the world, we'll certainly go back soon! Lyn xxx.0

Hi, l joined MSE absolutely ages ago but never posted much, for various reasons ( which l'll waffle about in a moment, getting to the point isn't one of my personal strengths! ) l've been offline for a while, but l randomly wandered through the Internet last night and found this thread and thought l'd like to be part of it...normally this means l'd lurk for a couple of years then wander off, but l'm trying to change all that hence my posting!:o
So l live in Norfolk and l guess you could say my family has had a few hard times lately, my dh got made redundant, had a heart attack followed by an angioplasty a couple of weeks ago, which leads to a bit of a change of lifestyle for us all. I haven't worked since my youngest son was born, he has autism and a couple of other health problems, and we knew one of us would have to concentrate on helping him and it was me....he's a joy and is now an eighteen year old joy going four days a week to a local college course for young people on the autistic spectrum. Currently we're living off our savings and the future is a bit up in the air financially, but we're trying to take it one day at a time. Today dh and l are going to attempt the two mile walk into the city, it's been a long time since he has been able to walk any distance, but we've been building up doing little walks and today we're going to go for it:)
Thanks for reading and l look forward to getting to know you all0 -

You are back! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
Sounds as if you had a lovely time and the meeting was "meant".
Youngest has just phoned me as she is about to go in to a second interview and is very nervous as she really wants this job. I managed to calm her down and reassure her I would be crossing my fingers and toes for her which at least made her laugh.
Sounds like thunder in the distance so may stay at home warm and dry rather than brace the weather.

Welcome LilySue. You have chosen a good thread here. They have helped me a lot.
DS started paid work yesterday. He borrowed my scales and got weighed. He has put on 2 stone while he has been doing his work experience. He says B&Q is a good work out, he does not need a gym. I can see it is all muscle he no longer has sticks for arms and legs. Just needs another half a stone to be at the bottom end of weight for his height.
I doubt there is that much lifting in other departments. What other department would move an already made up shed as big as a static caravan. It took 12 of them they had to borrow some staff from timber.
He has 37 hours to do this week so almost full time.
I have to find us a dentist this week, DS needs his wisdom teeth out and my teeth are just crumbling away.
Love the name Monna.
So glad you had a good holiday Lyn.0 -
LilySue my hubby has had 3 heart attacks and 3 lots of stents and is going strong here, treat it as a new start in life pet.
MrsL WE MISSED YOU! I HAD TO COOK WITHOUT YOU!!0
