    Up and at 'em Hester!
My little boat went back in the water yesterday. I was on bacon roll duty so DH and DS1 put her on her mooring. She behaved beautifully with the engine starting first time so they took her up the channel and back for a little run. It's always slightly fraught for everyone as the boats have been laid up for 6 months. The beds on my boat are narrow but quite long - I'm 5'11 and DS and DH are 6'2+!! You learn to lie and not turn over!!!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

We launched the bike yesterday and that's always fraught too :) Under a cover in the garden since he bought it in Feb and it was out for the first time on Fri. Out in the car yesterday we went past the garden centre and I grabbed the wheel and hung on until he took me in.. tons of flowers tons of people lovely sun and WARM. Got back up here and into November lol. Hills and height take time to warm up I think eh. Far too cold to plant anything here yet, when I used to do it they all just keeled over and died. I am grinding my teeth to stumps trying to be patient...

Did you buy anything at the garden centre mar, or did you just want to have a look to get some ideas for when it's warm enough?

Sorry to have missed you all for a few days. I've had a few problems which ended with my DIL taking me to A&E at the local NHS emporium. What humiliation. The first time ever I have been in hospital - at least as a patient. Everyone was intrigued to find that I had no medical history. It was an interesting experience.
The hospital itself was lovely. Being on an island it is not a large institution and almost everyone you meet knows someone that you know. But for goodness sake! In these days of computers and instant communication, wouldn't you think that the various departments of a fairly small hospital could share their information. I started in A&E where I stayed for about 8 hours and answered a form of about 30+ questions at least 7 times to different people, had a battery of tests including a CT scan (yes. Everything is in perfect working order, all ye doubters,) and being hooked up to a blood pressure machine that was left on automatic for over 2 hours and took my blood pressure every 10 minutes, OUCH. My DIL took great pleasure in reading the result and relaying it in a suitably dramatic fashion. I'm not telling you what it was but double the number you first thought of.
After8 hours of this I was admitted to the MAU where I went through the questionaire another couple of times and had BP taken 3 or 4 times again and also had a very long and incredibly detailed question and answer session with a delightful student nurse. Now, close your eyes those of a nervous or reticent disposition.
One of the things I had to do was to identify from a group of pictures the size and shape of my poo. Yes really! Mine was perfect. DIL has threatened to make me a badge.

OK, it's safe to open your eyes.

To my feeble protestations that I had done all this in A&E I was told, "ah. This is a different department." So I finally settled down to sleep. At about 11.00pm a nurse threw open the curtains and said cheerfully, "sorry about this but you are on the move again. We need this bed and one has come available on the ward." So I was trundled off to a new ward where we started the whole question and tests thing again. After that things quitened down again and i was only woken up once for yet another BP, temperature and pulse check.

Anyway, I am back home now, although the discharge procedure was a whole different story which will keep to another occasion.

Now I know why I have so assiduously avoided the medical profession all these years.

That's quite enough for today, I'm crawling into bed to catch up on sleep. Tomorrow I will catch up on the thread and find out what you have all been up to.

    Hugs Monna,
I hope you feel better soon.
I have had a few holidays on the island, one year we were staying at a caravan park where they had activities for the children.
My four joined in the supervised swimming where my youngest son had an accident and cut his mouth.
I knew as soon as I saw the injury that it would need stitching, I also knew that it looked like a typical NAI (Non accidental injury).
I drove him to casualty, the park reception phoned ahead to tell them we were coming, casualty was empty, so I was surprised to be kept waiting for two and a half hours to be seen.
Eventually I asked what the delay was, the nurse asked a Dr why we still hadn't been seen.
Not realising I was stood just the other side of the curtain the Dr replied 'We are waiting for the social services, it looks like a NAI'.
He was most surprised when I stepped out from behind the curtain and said 'I'm staying at a caravan park, they phoned ahead to tell you I was coming, my son was not in my care when the accident happened, it was definitely an accident'
Very apologetic he immediately came and stitched up my sons mouth and got the nurse to cancel the call to SS.
He asked my how I knew what an NAI looked like, I explained that I was a childminder and had been asked to look after 2 little boys who were on the at risk register as their mum was struggling.
I had been given training on how to spot NAI's and other things that would cause a red flag.
    Chin up, Titus out.

What is it about chickens personalities that they seem to suit 'traditional' names? I can't imagine a Sharon or Tracy ;)

We had chickens when I was a child but my Dad never let us name them as he said if we did we wouldn't want to eat them !!
