I spent all Saturday in A&E. What a pity I didn't know you were there we could have livened the place up a bit. It was pretty manic where I was.
The number of times I had to answer the same questions and have the same tests was ridiculous. Whatever happened to joined up thinking?
I hope you soon feel better. It must make you feel wretched.I believe that friends are quiet angels

You are so kind but I am trying to lose the weight that all my comfort eating has put on.
A bit of lettuce now..............
Managed quite a lot of sleep. You caught me in my half-time break. If it happens tomorrow just lob me half an orange over.
Hope today is better than yesterday for you.

You would think in this day and age they'd all have tablet computers or the like and would just tap in your name etc and the results would come straight through from your questioning elsewhere in same hospital same day.
I have always assumed they go through the questions again as if they do something disastrous like cutting off the wrong leg:eek: they would be responsible. OK cutting off the wrong leg might not be the best example but say someone hasn't recorded a drug allergy properly the unknowing nurse/doctor might give you something that would make you very ill or even kill you.
Actually I did have surgery as a teenager when the surgeon said, "so we are removing xx" as I was doing the counting backwards from ten bit I managed to say "no its the" and then I was out. I was very relieved when I woke up to find they had actually done the correct thing!Sell £1500

True and I think sometimes if we are in pain or distressed we aren't really thinking straight. I was in distress with the delivery, or failure to deliver, of one of my children. Things were not going well, help had been called but the anaesthetist arrived before the registrar and he obviously realised it was going to be a section. He was trying to explain the benefits of an epidural as he probably realised there wouldn't be much time. In fact it had to be a general as although he had started the epidural there wasn't time for him to finish. Anyway I can remember him asking me what I wanted meaning epidural or no epidural. I wailed like a 3 year old and said, "I want my baby." Pretty obvious but not much help. Poor man probably wanted to shake me:rotfl:Sell £1500

Monna It was all because you were not on the "system". As far as the NHS are concerned until Saturday you did not exist. Chances are you are going to end up on blood pressure tablets so you will keep on existing.
Because it was the weekend there was no one to put you onto "the system". Doctors and Nurses can't cant do IT they cost far too much to train! even if they now have to pay for it themselves. There's another chicken that will come home to roost in a few years when we have an even bigger shortage of doctors and nurses.
I think they also want you to come up with more symptoms to confirm what you have. When I passed out due to internal bleeding, that was when the discovered my cancer, I was questioned for 5 hours asking for symptoms I did not have. Yes I felt vaguely unwell but no pain or anything else. I knew I was bleeding internally the ambulance people had diagnosed that, someone had also found a lump. I just wanted them to open me up and stop the bleeding.
I hope what ever the problem is they have sorted it. Get well soon.
Would you believe my new electricity supplier have cancelled my account and given me back to British Gas. They say I have a prepayment meter. No I don't! I had it changed on 20th December. I even sent them a photo of my meter to prove it. Bl**** H***, after I sent the photo it took 8 emails to get them to believe me.
I do not want to have to go through another 18 months of this. It is the same problem I had with Npower. British Gas changed the meter at our last house and did not registered it. They had done it again. :mad:0 -
My cynics take on living in Britain is that its not a particularly efficient country (okay there are worse - but there are also better....and if they can we can).
Hence we often have to complain volubly at "summat going wrong". I rather suspect that (for whatever reason - be it inadequate resources/sheer blimmin' couldnt-care-less/etc) that they (firms/NHS/whoever) just take the first complaint as meaning "Oh...they are having a moan". I strongly suspect its more often someone somewhere "cant be ars*d" etc etc than lack of resources - its just very convenient to blame lack of resources for being someone who-couldnt-care-less and/or is the wrong person for the job etc.
I've long since learnt that it often takes several complaints before Someone Somewhere thinks "Oh **** this one is intelligent/determined/knows how things should be and is NOT going to shut up until it's sorted out" and actually darn well does something:(:(. Meanwhile - steam comes out of ears at having to sort something yet-a-blimmin-again because of this sort of thing going on.....and Life is "put on hold" for minutes/hours/weeks/years whilst trying to deal with the problem.
By now I just think "Ohforgawdsake - not this scenario again" and put it down in my household diary "Rang so-and-so/emailed so-and-so etc etc" until it's resolved or the best I can do is to be satisfied I at least tried and then put it out there on relevant grapevine as to what happened (and it's turned out that someone is ineffient/immoral/breaking the law/etc - delete as applicable).
'Scuse the rant - it's being a bit of an issue at the moment - as I sit there and think "Three!"...ie 3 different things that arent "as-they-should-be" at once. One is (unsatisfactorily) over and mental notes made on how-to-avoid incompetence in future. The other two are ongoing. Very frustrating - when one is just trying to get on with Life - but your conscience won't let you and you feel you have to at least try...0 -
Money if you mean my power suppliers, well Npower are not British I am not sure about my new supplier, I say new but I have been with them since 20th January, British Gas is probably part owned by some foreign company. If they followed the rules they had before we were sold our own company, they would do things efficiently and automatically register the meter.
Actually it would be NPower again wouldn't it as they covered this area with a different name back then.0 -
One of the reasons for choosing my own fuel supplier was that they are German (ie E-on). There has been one problem with them in the time I have been with them (some years) - but that was resolved quite readily. I'm not sure just how many bits of "inefficiency" or inefficiency I would have encountered in what must be more than 5 years by now if I'd had another one.
There are also other countries that are as inefficient/"inefficient" as Britain or more so. Think I'll go off and have a quick google as to who owns Npower (the name alone - ie nuclear power - meant they werent even on my list of ones-to-consider) and hence I dont know.
EDIT; Just had a quick google - and found they are UK-based and their headquarters are in Germany. Now that does surprise me...0
