I'm not sure how a trial of 20 x 128 can be beneficial to anyone in measuring anything. The cynic in me says it's looking more and more like an exercise in recognising an uprising in the issue and trying to increase reputation that will increase footfall.
Its beneficial to Asda, they've received massive publicity for a minimal spend, they may or may not continue down this line - they probably will because they've just come up with a format that allows them to sell more of whatever is available at the time. (Bundling several items together, means they can dictate what is selling and the relative quantities).
Your right it will/has increased footfall.0 -
Just thinking Hester, purple would certainly look good with shocking pink and one of my favourite bits of poetry/prose is "when I am am old I will wear purple and a red hat that doesn't suit me." The staff at school gave me the little book when I retired and I do endeavour to live up to it.
On the other hand what about pale lavender as befits a genteel lady of considerably mor than a certain age?
D'you know what? I woke up in the night to an unusual sound.........silence. No wind, no rain, no crashing waves, November. Scrub the last one...another of my favourite poems.
Am lying in bed making a mental list of what I am going to do today. Dream on Joy.

Most shops already do what they call stew packs, containing an onion, a few carrots, a small turnip and a parsnip, so the veg box is not a new idea. You would think Asda would be a bit braver and stock a few of these boxes in every store, I am sure they will go.One life - your life - live it!0

Fuddle - as my friend used to say to me. You're not a cynic, you're a realist!!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Love the music suggestions Nargle
Seeing as monna was incinerated, perhaps burnt orange?
It looks as if our local Asda will have the veg boxes, but we've recently started using the local greengrocer so will stick with them - use it or lose it! they share premises with the local butcher's, and we've gone back to buying our meat there too - we'd stopped as it was expensive, but it's now cheaper than the supermarkets (apart from lidL and aldi).
This isn't because the butcher's has lowered its prices but because the supermarkets seem to have raised theirs.0 -
I think it should be SCARLET!!!!!0

Absolutely a realist silvasava. I have been asked a pulse opinion poll this very morning containing 3 questions. Have you heard that Asda are going to sell wonky veg boxes? Do you think this is a good idea? How likely are you to shop at Asda because of the scheme?
I don't buy it and because of the way my mind works now I don't like to be played or treat for a fool. My opinion of Asda has plummeted. Trial it in areas that don't have deprivation levels too high Asda. Yeah well done, you wouldn't want to help people really would you... not if it means they don't have surplus income to spend in your store.
And with that I shall get the camomile tea on. I have my inlaws coming this afternoon complete with my girls' cousins (one of whom is christmas kite girl) and my stress levels are through the roof. I'm baking a lot today.0 -
Hang in there pet, it's your house so it's YOUR house rules!!!0

Mardatha have you looked on pinterest at cloud bread? I cannot do links but I saw a recipe that was no carbs. I think it was mainly egg based. I'm sure someone on here will help.0

Don't stress Fiddle. They are coming to your castle which is run under YOUR rules. They are jolly lucky to be invited and if they don't like it they have the option of refusing further invitations. All you need is a welcoming smile and a bit of food. They are not coming on a tour of inspection or to judge a 'bake off'. They are family coming for a meet up.
Having said that, I know just how you feel but I can't bear to think of you frantic and struggling.
I have always felt uncomfortable when I survey the serried ranks of identical vegetables in supermarkets. They look like children's plastic toy veggies, and probably taste pretty similar. The good Lord didn't make them like that and they don't come out of our gardens like that. I'm not bothered by As*as secret agenda, any step in the right direction suits me. I just hope that it is such a roaring success that it spreads to all SMs in all branches all over the country so that we see an end to the terrible wastage of perfectly good tasty produce, and saves the farmers trying to placate their lords and masters, the SMs. Perhaps we are inching our way to getting real.
Gingerly climbs off soapbox.:rotfl:
