Now the tablets I have for diabetes have the most dire effects, which you wouldn't want to know about:eek::eek::eek:
    Candlelightx

If that's Metformin (sp?) that is causing side effects, have you asked for or tried the slow release version, it can make a huge difference.
  • Thank you for that nuatha, I had heard about them, and I have an appointment with the GP on Monday to discuss the results of my recent blood test so I will ask. I have been on these for about 3 years and they do dire things to my tummy.

No doubt my BG will be up, and I know that is my own fault. I will let you know if GP agrees to change to slow release metformin.

I stopped taking the regular ones as I was unable to function most days, the nurse suggested the slow release version and they've worked well for me - good luck on Monday.

Welcome Zippy, lovely to have you here :hello:. Best wishes re your Dad.

fuddle If you can do moss stitch, you can do rib stitch. Now I'm stuck to explain how it differs from moss stitch....If I remember rightly you do plain, purl, plain, purl, etc, on every row, rather than alternating them with rows where you start off with a purl stitch. If that doesn't make sense, hopefully Monna or another knitter will explain better :o
I had the high BP/ rapid pulse thing too, and I wasn't stressed and anxious! I now take a tablet once a day and am much better.

Re metformin - OH takes them, but has problems only occasionally. it sounds as if he's very lucky!

Aha ivyleaf. I know ribstitch. I found out how to do that when finding out what not to do for moss stitch. :D thank you :)

Thank you all for helping me realise that it isn't something too awful and quite common.

Softstuff, sometimes writing things down, putting into a sealed envelope and burning it acts as a release without the grief of vocalising it?

I think I'll give it a try, thanks Floss. Bit down with it all.

Fuddle, as regards your blood pressure, it's also possible it's been high *because* you were being monitored and that had stressed you out. Keep knitting and wait for the ECG. I dread to think what my BP is like right now, but know the extra 10 or so kilos won't be helping.

Candlelight, the pills for diabetes are ones my mother cheerfully refers to as Met-farting. I shall have to tell her there's a slow release version too.

As I said, I have had high BP for at least 56 years that I know of with no medication at all and no symptoms either. And before you all start shouting at me, I KNOW that it is very dangerous and is called the silent killer and I could easily have a stroke blah blah blah. But I am still here.
Fuddle, there is also the 'white coat syndrome'. I have seen this in action and know it to be very common.
As for the knitting I think you are doing marvellously. It is quite a difficult skill to learn when you start but if you persevere you will find that it will gradually become automatic. Someone I was close to once said that I was the only person she knew who could knit, watch TV and read a book at the same time. You will get there.

Mrs LW: all power to your DD. She must be outstanding in her field to be put forward by her present superiors. It is fairly unusual to promote within a school so that shows huge character and ability. Give her a big hug and we will all cross our fingers.

Nursemaggie: I think you must be right. Those blankety boobs get me into all sorts of trouble. Ha ha. I've outwitted the tablet that wanted to tell you that I have trouble with my books. And that I have outfitted it.. eat your heart out Mr Samsung, I have you Sussex.. NO NO NO. SUSSEX. SUSSED.

    Hi all,
Hi zippy,:hello: welcome to the fence, what colour is your bit going to be ?
Fuddle , don't worry to much about BP, after all the changes you have had lately sure it will turn out fine, if you do end up on meds, find a pharmacy with a good pharmacist, tell them it is the first time you have had med and they should offer you advice and a chance to come in about a week later to discuss any problems/side effects etc etc ...
The same goes for long term meds , we offer things like medicine review that can highlight any problems or improvement in meds or new products , hope you can find a good pharmacy ,we are small local independent and seam to be fighting with the government over more cuts , the big boys seam to be squashing us which is a shame because we do a good job and do give a dam about our customers...
Sorry of my soap box now , just one of those days lol
long day , headache, pins and needles a pain, want to burst into tears but waste of time , roll on tomorrow....
Mrs lw ..fingers crossed she gets an interview

my mil has cancer , we were told just before Christmas, seams quite rapid, don't think she will be here in 6 mth , without sounding harsh I quite like her , haven't had any run in with her, helped her if needed etc, etc, but Big family issues with sil, dh sees his mum weekly if not more and she knows if she wants us she only has to ask , but sil is making it almost in possible to find out what's going on/remain in contact with mil, we are getting pushed out because sil wants to play the marter plus other things , so sad for dh ..not looking forward to the next few mth,it's so going to blow up and that is not fair on dh or mil , but can't see any other way for it to end ,sil is such a nasty person..as it stands now I can see us not going and having no part of her funeral ,trying to keep the peace for now but know it going to blow , and feel so guilty for worrying about this when I should be worried about her dying , ...sorry this may not make much sence, just had to let someone know , as have to juggle lots of balls and remain smiling ....

Hi, not really , don't want to rock the boat for mil, dh is one of 5 , 3 of them will not get involved because to be honest they then might actually have to do something , mil is close to sil but has pushed everyone out so she could get what she wants , and other bil/sil don't want to upset mil !! Even though they all know what she is like , we live the nearest to mil and see/ hear what's going on ( small village) and it's just so wrong, even to the extent of her hosting charity events then keeping the money, would be just one example of the things she does, .. just not looking forward to the next few months...
