Okey dokey folks, back after being MIA! Been spending the past six days doing a daily 180-mile round trip to the hospital to pick mum up and take her to see dad (as well as visiting myself!). I am totally cream-crackered and can hardly think straight.
Turns out to be oesophogitis (sp?) - inflamation of the oesophogus and and a bleeding ulcer on the intestine. Dad discharged today and condition controlled by meds. I think I would have been seriously dangerous if I had to do that drive again tomorrow!
And no, I couldn't stay over because I have dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, fish -oh, and children - to look after!!
My house looks like a bomb has hit it, the wash-bin is overflowing, nobody has any clean undercrackers, the dogs are climbing the walls because they need walking, I probably have an overdraft because I haven't checked the daily banking and I am serving beans on toast for dinner!

Hope you have 'thawed out' Mrs LW, horrible feeling that. Good luck to your DD.
Hi monna, glad you're not blinding with that effing!
Met some friends this afternoon, one of them had a mastectomy and re-construction just before christmas - she looks great and I am so happy! I was worried that she was just saying that she was fine (small infection in one of the wounds) but very up-beat and glad to be out and about. She has to have some chemo as a precaution in the coming weeks that can be administered at our local hospital.
Another friends mum's funeral arranged for next Monday so will ask for an hour away from work to attend.
Just been for a short walk to the glass bank, it was a fine evening when I left but was pouring down when I got home. At least the house is cosy and warm, I'm going to stay in and do some knitting.0 -
Oh Lillibet - and breathe! Hope you get a few days to get sorted at home AND some 'me time' you deserve and need it.
Monna - you car sounded a bit like mine. A 1957 A40 (the very first hatchback) 3 forward gears, no synchromesh on first and Joy of Joy a starting handle which I used quite often as the battery wasn't up to much and pull down windows! I paid £47.10 for it and sold it 2 years later for £35. Happy times.
Spent part of today on the boat making newspaper templates of the heads ( toilet) so DH can line it with some fetching vinyl flooring instead of just painted ply ( much more hygenic!). I promise you tea on board Monna when I sail over in the summer - its not a gin palace - estate agents would call it bijouno you can't swing a cat!
MrsL - fingers crossed for DD - at the very least it will be experience and if she doesn't try she'll never know. Hope the gum has settled down and you're not dribbling too much lol
Hope everyone has a good evening and stays warm xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
lillibet You poor love! So glad your Dad is feeling better and that they've been able to sort it with meds.
Mrs LW Good luck to your DDHope your mouth is back to normal now.
Monnagran and others - I loved hearing about your first cars!
fuddle Huge WELL DONE for tackling knitting :T0 -
Elona, do you think they'll quote you for a canoe or a hot air balloon?
Fingers crossed for your DD MrsLW. I don't see why she shouldn't stand a great chance.
Lillibet, take a deep breath and relax before tackling that lot. No-ones going to suffer from a bit of mess for a couple of days. And tell em all to go commando.
I'm pooped, going to be taking it easy today.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

Fortunately there is a ten mile detour around the town that a removal van can take. I quite fancy a hot air balloon apart from my fear of heights"This site is addictive!"

Goodness me! I'm worn out just reading about your last few days lillibet dripping Take care and look after yourself now you have sorted your parents out as much as you can for now.
Mrs LW You poor thing, hope you can eat without biting yourselfAt least you had some nice weather to go for a walk. The interview will be good experience, even if your DD doesn't get the job, but let's all send good vibes and hope she does.
Monnagran All this talk about old cars reminds me of one of my parents' early cars. Everyone called them the Flintstones because there were so many holes in the floor, they thought they would end up running on the road like Fred and Wilma!
Fuddle Stick with it! It's a great way of de-stressing and you get lovely things at the end. I'm more of a crocheter though, but I learned to knit properly when our children were small, and I used to make jumpers and cardigans for them. They wouldn't thank me for one now, they are too grown up.
Knitting is very therapeutic and it's even prescribed on the NHS! There are groups of people trying to give up smoking etc. who have been told to learn to knit.2025 Fashion on the ration

It's happened again!!
I'd written quite a bit of a post when my tablet got bored with playing that game andswitched me over to another site. Of course when I switched back the post had disappeared.
It's too late to start again so I'll see you all in the morning.
