Kidcat - I agree with what you say but I have been a lone carer throughout my daughters life following a toxic marriage . Like yourself I had to withdraw her from formal education in secondary school . It was about eighteen years ago and was quite rare for my local education department to deal with . We were very lucky that the home ed officer was the most amazing lady . When conventional tutors did not differ from the bullying staff at her school we had the good fortune to be given a special scheme which was funded through europe . That was when she blossomed . With physical and mh conditions it has always been a series of battles for the right diagnosis ,the right treatment. I am sure you have experienced this yourself .
The main problem for me is there is only me . I hope your home ed is going well . I bet you never regret it !

Theres a poster doing the rounds at the moment about cars cant run on fumes forever and nor can carers, its true. I often ignore health issues until crisis point and then theres a massive panic and the fallout is usually huge. Its my goal for this year to look after my health as much as the others
Good for you kidcat :T As pollyanna says, it's so easy to forget to listen to your body when there's so much else to think about.
Monnagran I hope you manage to post tomorrow xx0 -
OK. It wasn't the deathless prose I regretted the loss of, it was the fact that it was a really long post that took me ages to tap out on this tablet.
However, as far as i remember I congratulated Fuddle on getting her family packed up and moved, Christmas organised, official and financial problems sorted and had started to learn to knit all in the space of a very short time. WonderWoman.
Camelot: another poster who deserves a bouquet tossed in her direction, for services to friendship. You are lovely, Petal.
Ivyleaf: you seem to have had much valuable advice. I cannot speak from personal experience but have recently spent a holiday with a friend whose DH has a Berlingo. They bought it to carry their dog around in the back, (with his bed, his drinking bowl, his eating bowl , his towel, and his toys.Yes, he is their baby.) They have had the car for about 12 years and it has taken them up and down mountains, in all sorts of weather and for thousands of miles. It was still going strong when I was there a couple of months ago and had just sailed through its MOT.
A far cry from my first car which was a 1935-ish Austin Ruby I bought from one of my brother's student friends. I must have wanted my bumps felt. They had souped it up to such an extent that it would leave Jaguars standing at traffic lights, or so they assured me.Well, it might have done if it didn't invariably stall at traffic lights which necessitated a wildly blushing 20-ish girl having to get out and crank start it under the levers (that would be LEERS, then) and cheers of lorry drivers. The exhaust pipe was an old water pipe and the thread at the tap end stuck out from the back bumper. I had a long piece of string with one end tied round the accelerator which was inclined to stick down, and the other end tied round my wrist to pull it up again. The heater was a hot water bottle on my lap and if I went over a puddle it was a good idea for all passengers to lift their feet to avoid the water gushing through the holes in the floor.
This was before MOTs were invented.

That car sounds rather like our first car some friends took it to the north of Scotland, from York. They had two toddles and they found the holes in the floor very useful for emptying the potty. :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I would second that one
We have a dispatch because I needed more seats but would happily have bought the berlingo or the peugeot version if I didnt need more seat
I looooved mine. Had to sell it before I moved to Australia. Incredibly comfortable, very nippy, takes corners on two wheels....
Monnagran, love the sound of your first car. Mine, which I'm sure had a dodgy MOT, was an old bedford rascal van. Bought for a couple of hundred quid cash from 2 chaps on the prom. I kept sandbags in the back to stop it blowing over in high winds, there was newspaper and builders bog filling the holes, it used as much oil as petrol and the gear lever needed the strength of 2 hands to change gear. There was no heater either and the best journey I ever had in it was when I had a sofa in the back, it dampened the noise to a less deafening level. I honestly considered buying a sofa to keep in the back of it! That lasted until I got a business loan for the berlingo.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
The Sun is out, the sky is blue. Btw, the Sun I am effing to is the bright light in the sky not the celebrated fish and chip wrapping. I don't know who the tablet thinks is writing this but I am not in the habit of effing. Shall we try 'referring'? That's better.
HELLOOOOOO?
Anyone out there?

Hi to Monnagran
I have been fairly efficient and emptied some kitchen cupboards ready for a move in a few weeks. Someone is coming from a removal firm tomorrow afternoon to give me a quote. I have warned them that the bridge is out and I will be moving from one side of the river to another which will be fun.
Hope you are feeling a bit brighter and that things are going well."This site is addictive!"

Hello MONNA I have a numb gum!!! big back tooth filling this afternoon, not my preferred way of spending time but necessary maintenance. Ne'mind all over now and back home and warm from the stove. Will be having porridge for my supper so as not to chew. Beautiful day out there today and such a nice walk with Cookie and Sue and Charlie retriever this afternoon in the sunshine and even a nice bus ride into town to the dentists surgery followed by a small pootle to the shops while I waited for the bus. Exciting news DD1 is applying for the Deputy Head post that will be coming up in the school she teaches at, both the head and the current deputy head have told her to apply and been very encouraging, first round of interviews will be on Monday next week, she's not expecting to be short listed but you never know, she's got as much chance as anyone else applying hasn't she?0
