Good news on the job Camelot.

Not been posting, had a yuck week with a death in the extended family which kind of threw me off kilter.

A lovely day here today, cold but bright sunshine. I had a slow walk with the dogs but went a little further than normal which is not bad for OldDog, came back and moved the bird table in the garden, must put some fresh food on it next.

Just sorting out my grocery shopping list for the week.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • 'LO MONNA still here and reading along every day but busier than usual for some reason. It's arctic out there this morning and we were minus temperature this morning for the first time this winter, up to 6C now but the frost is still thick on the lawns where the sun hasn't reached yet. Housework done, ironing done, and Cookie walked. I'll take her after lunch today and them am off to the cinema for the latest Starwars film with my lovely Sister in law. We're going out for supper too afterwards and hope to use a voucher we won from the pub in Loch Fyne to have fish and chips apparently they are owned by Green King too! Stay warm everyone, Lyn xxx.

Jazee So sorry to hear your news ((HUGS))

Certainly is cold today. We went to the butcher's and I asked OH if he fancied one of their turkey and ham pies or their pork pies, was surprised to get no answer, then he said he was too cold to think! That's unheard of for him, as moving around is such an effort for him that he's usually hot rather than cold!

Mrs LW There's a Loch Fyne in a shopping centre not far from us, but I always thought they were just restaurants, so we live and learn :)
burtha 43 eggs? Blimey! Do you sell them? Good luck finding things to do with them all!

Softstuff On another thread I visit, there's a man who posts as Generali, another Brit in Oz with an Aussie partner. He posted that he'd just seen a huge beetle dragging an enormous dead spider across his patio. He sounded as if it had made him feel a bit green around the gills, and I'm not surprised! I think I'll suggest the wine remedy. He likes wine.

Birtha - That's a lot of eggs!! Would love to keep chickens but we live in Housing Association and aren't allowed sadly. I didn't wake up until almost 11 today - felt very lazy but I think we sometimes need it!

Camelot - Congratulations on your job!

Sorry I haven't been on much this week, I've been really sore with my shoulder so have been spaced out on painkillers a lot of the time. It's been so cold this week which hasn't helped, makes me grateful to be living down south, I can only imagine how cold it has been up north! Had my Occ Health appointment over the phone this week as ds has been home poorly from school. He's been quite run down as school has been stressful (he's autistic and stress goes straight to his tummy) so when he picked up a bug it pretty much floored him. On a positive note, my dh's infected leg seems to be on the mend now, he's an amputee and knocks it on a regular basis which has led to it becoming sore and infected. Coming to terms with the fact that I need to change jobs and do something more around my family, the current one is not great around being a carer. Big hugs to all who need them today xx

    Hugs Jazee.

Well it has snowed all day here and is a couple of inches deep. I walked down into the little town for a few things and it was really heavy when I came home.

Bought some wool to make a baby hat, poncho and bootees - very simple cos I'm not very good! Been cozy and warm knitting this afternoon.

My friend's mum passed away this morning, she has been at the hospital for a week at her bedside. Leaving them to have some family time and will see them tomorrow. She now has her dad to worry about as he's in a different hospital.

Take care in the cold and snow.

Sorry to read your sad news Camelot. You are a good friend to think of waiting to see her instead of some who would just push in.
Burtha I am amazed you got anywhere on Thursday morning, we started out but turned back as we didn't need to be out.
Could you freeze beaten eggs in ice cube trays until you get around to using them?
I think I want to hibernate, it is so cold atm. This morning it was -2 in the car.

That's small fry to me Ivyleaf, beetles aren't even on my list of concerns. And it had a spider to eat, so cause for celebration I feel ;) Now, if I have to kill the aforementioned spider myself, not too bad..... but if it's a sizeable one and I have to clean up the splat after, then I'm green. It has taken me 10 years here and much freaking out to reach the present level of ambivalence to bugs. And cockroaches still freak me out (can kill em with a heavy book, but the book stays on the floor till hubby sorts it).

Burtha 43 eggs could be pavlova topped with lemon curd. Well, that'd use some up.

    Do you like pickled eggs?
Maybe make some pancakes or drop scones or cake and freeze them?

Middle dd is staying over and has a bad cold so I am in "Mummy mode".

Most of the family are coming round for Sunday lunch tomorrow so got some hangar steak from the local butcher for then as well as lots of green veg. Hope they can make it as it has started to snow in Leeds tonight.

    Camelot

Stay safe in the snow and sorry about your friend's parents.

    Hugs to all

  • Eggs, my egg lady hasn't delivered since before Christmas so I'm hoping she comes today as I'm down to my last 6, I usually have 2 or 3 dozen in my fridge (yes I know they shouldn't be kept in the fridge, but I do)
Monna, I hope you are ok.
We have snow here, only a smattering and I don't think it will pitch, if it does or if it get worse I won't go to work tomorrow.
    Chin up, Titus out.
