Softstuff, sometimes writing things down, putting into a sealed envelope and burning it acts as a release without the grief of vocalising it?

Oh thank you for the lovely welcome, I was nervous :)

I've just called home now he has to go back Friday and they'll send a sample off, but the Dr doesn't think it's sinister so I'm feeling better about it. He only went to the Dr Thursday, then the hospital rang Friday to see the specialist today, I think it was so quick we all panicked it must be serious, you get so used to waiting months for an appointment, guess he must have been really lucky :)

I mentioned in sewing today I was struggling being stuck in the house and someone recommended a few free groups so I'll try them. When I was working I used to think I'd do this, that or the other if I had more time, now I do I'm thinking wistfully of work, the grass is always greener :rotfl: you're right though candlelight I did have a chance to go back, but I really don't want all that hassle again, I just have adjust and try and make friends who are also around in the day.

Thank you all again, looking forward to joining in, I think it's time for a cuppa :)
  • Hello Zippy!
Just been through the 'dad in hospital' bit myself!
Regarding loneliness, might I suggest your local U3A? Apart from the main monthly meeting they will have loads of different 'interest groups' attached to them. I run our U3A family history group, but also belong to the local history group, patchwork group, threads group, scrabble group and will be joining the petanque group once the weather improves!

Welcome *zippy* :) looking forward to getting to know you.

Monna oh dear. I wish for you to have a PC again, even a laptop! If it helped I'm sure we wouldnt mind here if you posted after every paragraph. It breaks my heart that you can't share and can't help support and er, we loose your humour :D

Lyn go that girly of yours. DD works do hard and is commited to what she does and i only know a snippit of DDs working life. Positive encouragement from peers is something, positive encouragement from bosses is something else! Whatever DD gets from this situation at the very worst it shall be warm feelings of appreciation.

I didn't buy the knitting magazine today. The price was £3.99 and over what I felt it worth. Pollyanna you were right hun :) I'm not giving up though. I now know 3 stitches and will continue producing squares from those until a I feel confident to you tube another. What would knitters suggest next? I know garter, stocking and moss.

Please may I ask for your thoughts in the next few days? Afterall the curfuffle with our NHS numbers as part of registration we had to see the nurse. My readings there for resting pulse and blood pressure were high so had to monitor at home. Having given my readings back I have to go back because my blood pressure and resting pulse are too high. I need a blood test and an ecg. I'm very scared. I live with my anxiety and stress without help and just wondering if after all these years of trying to control it I'm hurting my body. I feel like I fight to just keep on fighting sometimes.

I can understand why crafting is thought of as a tactic to help oneself in the eyes of the NHS. I would be lost without it.

Ah,ah.Lots of people to reply to buy the last shall be first.

Fuddle: if it's any comfort I have had high blood pressure since I was 20. I had to have a medical before I started teaching and it was "slightly raised". I have only been to my doctor on average once a decade but whenever my blood pressure was taken it was always "a bit high". I am not a worrier and have successfully ignored this. In view of what i have been through in the last 6 months it is probably off the charts by now and I am about to register with a new doctor. Oh dear, I don't have my NHS number either. What a good start, no NHS number, rocketing blood pressure , overweight and an innate distrust of doctors.
I think I will just go away nd quietly fall on my sword.
On the other hand if the treatment is to do more crafting I am quite willing to spend my days sitting in my rocking chair and knitting. Oh YES!

Oi wumman! Get yourself to the doctor, ya hear?! :D any trouble with the NHS number call the NHS helpline and they will sort it for you. There no need to get in the pickle like I did. You know what I'm like - divvint mess when I've a point to prove. I should have just seen there was a problem, reported and let the good people at NHS help me. I wish I was successful in ignoring. :D

Fuddle I think those of us who learned to knit very young, I was only 4 when my Aunt taught me to knit. I do remember knitting the same square for ages and having to keep pulling it out because I always had nearly twice as many stitches as I started with after a couple of rows.

We did not learn overnight but we can't remember all the years of struggle. You are probably not taking any longer to learn. The squares are a good idea because you will use up any stash and you can make a blanket with the squares afterwards.

I first knitted doll's clothes when I graduated to a pattern. I certainly did not tackle a cardigan for years. I knitted a skirt fora doll just two squares, a pair of knickers just two squares with a little shaping.

Another thing you can knit, which is useful, are dishcloths, though they are not cheap, they are better than any you can buy. There are hundreds of patterns for them online. You get to practice different patterns on a small scale.

Scarves are welcome gifts when you can knit them nice and straight. There are a variety of patterns you can use. Just garter stitch can be very effective especially if you try some self patterning yarn. It makes it look more complicated than it is.

High blood pressure is so common. They will probably put you on some medication. You will be regularly monitored. You will get so well looked after you are unlikely to ever have a heart attack or stroke.

You could try searching for relaxation and take up some exercise. Even a walk everyday helps control your blood pressure.

Lyn I don't thing the head would have encouraged your DD to apply for deputy head if she did not stand a good chance of getting it. She has already proved she is capable.
  • Fuddle I have been on medication for high blood pressure since I was about 35, and I am 70 now. My BP was also high when I was pregnant.

I have always had regular checkups, and me in my innocence thought that once I had a good reading I could come off the pills, but the GP said Oh no, these are for life. They don't appear to have any side effects and I also have water tablets in conjunction with the BP tabs.

Now the tablets I have for diabetes have the most dire effects, which you wouldn't want to know about:eek::eek::eek:

Good luck and please don't worry it should easily be sorted

I hope the girls are well

  • Bless you all, thank you for being so supportive and kind, the application is in and we'll see where we go with it. She's a realist is my Nell and will be fine if she's not called to interview and also fine if she is!

FUDDLE thanks poppet, don't worry too much about the ECG it's standard to have one and the blood test too to rule causes out not in. They'll give you some medication, it takes a while to get the balance and dosage right, took me about 4 years of trying things, adding things, taking things out again and upping doses but now it's level again so it's a pfaff not really a worry. Don't be scared of it, it's something that is well able to be managed by you and your GP. You'll be fine!

ZIPPY welcome aboard the thread love, so glad to read that your dad is back and they don't think there's a big problem, have a nice cuppa to celebrate, you can't be uncheered with a nice cuppa.
