My goodness, there is nothing like other people's troubles to put your own into perspective. Kittie, this is the most appalling situation. Do let us know when there is any news. I will be praying very hard for your sister and her husband. You must be beside yourself with worry. Please keep us up to date, you know how much support you will get from the wonderful people here.
Nursemaggie: thank you for your help. That is one of my favourite passages, particularly the last verse.
I guess you are making the best of a bad job at the moment and it will be a while before you feel truly at home, but it will happen. Of course when your flats were built there was no question of having to accommodate things like washing machines, fridges or freezers. Mind you, I have seen some kitchens in modern homes where this is a problem too.

It hardly seems appropriate to mention it in the face of the real tragedies going on around us but I suddenly became a different person yesterday. Whether it was the St Johns Wort kicking in, the fact of being out with my DIL and her friend or the vibes of love and support from my friends, not forgetting my good friends on this forum, I don't know but whatever caused it I woke up this morning feeling more positive than I have felt for the last six months. Fingers crossed.

It's a combination of everything monna and that you want this for yourself too. You are not alone. I have been in a state too but such a small thing is bringing round. I know it's a waste of money and a con etc etc but today I am going to buy a knitting magazine that shows me step by step a stitch for a square to make into a blanket. It will probably be acrylic wool and I can't choose my colours and all of that but I am desperate to knit and have tried so many times over the years re youtube and ravelry. I'm looking forward to it and that's all it's taken to get a bit of a spring in my step.

Let me know about the St John's Wort. Another one if I may? Magnesium supplements. They keep me on an even keel. After 2015 and all it brought I should have 'gone under' but I am doing ok. :)

Kittie it is just awful. We know that things happen out of know where. Lives are changed in an instant. I'm so pleased you are able to have instant contact with loved ones. It will help them and will help you. My thoughts are very much with you and yours.

Kittie so pleased your family are OK, so sad they are likely to lose everything.

Monna so glad you are feeling a little better today. I believe I read you take no medications so this warning is for others. St Johns Wort is very good for mild depression but it does react with some medication very dangerously. Always check with a pharmacist before taking it. You can buy it in most pharmacies.
  • MONNA yes, yes, yes, and yes again, well done love, proud of you!!!

People with ME always take Magnesium, it's the number one must-have, so it must be useful. I have taken St JW in the past too, it's good.
Am sitting dreaming of being a fabulous cook, turning out these huge Henry VIII-style roasts complete with all veg... but too lazy to go through into the cold kitchen to boil an egg. Sigh.
  • Monna, I am so pleased you are feeling a little better.
