nursemaggie another one wading in with complain! We started to pack before the removal people came here, the chaps took one look and said they would take over and they know how much weight they were allowed to put in each box!

Monna if you want to stop at a rather famous University City in East Anglia then we can offer you a sofa bed, two manic Cairn Terriers and a decentish pub for food about 8 miles outside :D

Aw silvasava you get to do what DH and I planned to do. I can see you in my minds eye. I won't ever forget looking out past Old Harry's Rock on a glorious day. Such a world away now but we have new plans that consist of the northern canal network. Such is life. I'm just thankful that we have the ability to still smile eh? :)

I think your post is what toughies and preppers alike develop if they can get past their initial worries and fears .

No snow now pollyanna. It's all melted away too. :(

You're so right. To be fair I did nothing but lust after Western Scotland while I was down there. I think it's just change that isn't chosen. Some days it annoys us more than others. I'm alright now though. We walked home in s-u-n :D

Off to go read If :)

Please let this year be better than its starting for so many. We are strong but our resolve does get tried. This Housing problem is affecting so many whether buying/renting(privately or as is now classed as Social Housing)

Often the media is not reporting what it could/should be, the political programmes and many of the correspondents don't report much about the policies and their effects on the population but more about the lives and personalities making the decisions. Its become a form of entertainment.

Snow? Did someone say snow? It could happen but in my part of the N East of England...the rain has stopped for now. There is a light blue sky, a few light clouds. It seems calm but there is no snow.

I could be wrong but I think last night I could actually see some light in the sky at around 5pm so just maybe the days are starting to lengthen enough that we can notice that they are.

That has to help improve our mood.

Sounds as though many are on adventure at present not expected or of their making but hopefully there will be peace and a safe harbour at journey's end.

We have not paid the first removal company. They did everything wrong from the start. they were too young and inexperienced to not have an older guy with them. The big muscular guy had an attitude as soon as he walked through the door. The other one was very shy and I think afraid of his co-worker. They will both have really bad backs before they are 30. They had obviously never had even an hours training.

We had negotiated packing the computers and equipment to be included but he told us he had no intention of doing it and we should have had everything packed before they arrived.

I did not even pay a deposit for removals. They could not take cards and I had to have the full payment in cash on the day. It worried me carrying £450 around with me all day as it won't go in a wallet.

It actually saved us money. DS needs new shoes. I know they are not going to cost £170 even though he always has good ones. Cheap shoes are false economy. I saved all that despite giving the second two removers generous tips as they were so helpful and the opposite of the others. The police negotiated with the removal company. we were given the choice of them bringing what was in the van to the flat for free, putting it all back in the house or he would arrest both of them and them spend at least a night in the cells. I think I chose the best. We suspect the guy who assaulted DS has either got the sack or is on a warning.

Needless to say I do not ever want to move again.

Monna these flats were built immediately after the war on a bomb site. They are built well but frugally as you know materials were in scarce supply. My mother had a tiny kitchen most of her life as they lived in council houses. I did say when we looked at it the whole flat is smaller than my parents first sheltered housing flat. They had a little room about the size of my kitchen shelved on two sides. Somewhere to keep cases, step ladders and the spare duvet to name but a few. Everyone had a small chest freezer in there too.

They moved into the block when it had just been built so did everyone else. One of the men named this room "The Shed" and it stuck. I really could do with one of them.

I expect you are feeling angry with God and feeling guilty about. Read Matthew 6 v 25 to 34. Have a good weep give it all to God and though he may not change anything he will enable you to cope. Do it every day. Now I am crying for you because I know it works.

Yes we do have room for some shelves but we cannot put any up until we have been paying rent for a year. I shall be putting them up on December 7th unless that is the date I have to ask permission to do it.

One amusing thing. I have put the pans on top of the cupboards and all the flattish tins together on the top too. I have two round trays with holes in the bottom for cooking pizzas. I also use them of oven chips. They are slightly curved on the bottom. I put them up there and turned round and they seemed to jump off one at a time. I kept doing it until I realized they were not going to stay.

They said "We're not going to stay up here, we belong in a dark cupboard."

So they are sitting on top of the cereal boxes until I find somewhere to put them. :rotfl:

Oh softstuff a big long hug for you too. I hope they can fix him. It sounds like he was taken from his mother too early.

You know what I think God was listening when we all said this was going to be a better year so he said so he said "Oh no life's not like that I will show you all!"

you might have seen a clip on the news about a massive bushfire south of perth. It is huge and very very fierce and the wind is wild and blowing embers everywhere, that plus lightening are starting new fires and a fire like this creates its own lightening, The air temperature away from the fire is 36-40 c, so near the fire it must be lung vaporising temperature

my sister and her husband, he 70 and she 66, live right in the path, between harvey and waroona. They have a small farm, built up over their adult lifetime and many animals, prize winning miniature horses, cows, dogs, sheep. They got the call to evacuate, she went and he stayed on what is called fire watch as they have their own water supply. This means that he runs around putting out ember lit fires, on the roof, anywhere, all with one hand as he broke the other one months ago and it hasn`t healed. She went to my niece, her daughter and they had to evacuate from there too. The pollution is terrible, people cannot breathe and exit roads have melted away.

It is very hard to get news and for the first time in my life I joined facebook to find out more from my niece.

My dear friend lost her home and her beloved pets just over two years ago in the blue mountain fires. I hope your family stay safe.

last news, roads are clogged. Animals will have been left to fend for themselves, I am guessing as no communications. Other niece is praying that her dad has got out. Fire is moving 1.5 km an hour towards the farm and is very close. Absolutely massive uncontrollable fire.
