Wondercollie I hope you're able to fight it off quickly.

The dentist was fine. I've never had any work/fillings etc. so there isn't really much to it for me. I did come back and tell OH the family would have to send him as a guinea pig instead.:D

Tea tonight was tuna steaks, egg noodles and greens. Just finished that. OH is somehow short a shirt so is ironing one now and then we'll run through some more practice questions for me and settle down for the evening. I haven't baked anything for pudding but I think we have some chocolate biscuits OH brought home after one of his field trips. They were going out of date so the school told the staff to take them.:D

My computer had that too and I was wondering just how many more flippin' updates were going to come through. I don't recall them being "batched" before now.

The thought did cross my mind as to whether that might be the "culprit" for finding yesterday that my computer wouldn't work...followed by a lot of other electrical stuff not working....but more money lobbed in the direction of an electrician later:( and it wasn't owt to do with my computer and I'm back on line again with my electrics all sorted.

Gosh, I ran out of week for catching up with you all. Not sure what I have done all week but it certainly took up my time. I have managed to get out for a couple of good walks while the weather was fine, today we have April showers and a cold wind!

Softstuff - What a terrible shame, I hope the buyers are ashamed of themselves. I'm sure someone will come along very soon and are unable to resist your beautiful flat.

I'm presently waiting for someone to come and look at my rather large sofas I am selling on Gumtr££. Although I think they are a bargain they are very big so wont suit most modern houses. They are too big for this house (they came from our previous place) and once they are gone I can get the plasterer in to sort the living room ceiling. Just got to hope that they want them.

A week of sadness here, a very good friend's dad died, we are going to a short service tomorrow evening and the funeral and burial is on Monday morning but my friend is so thoughtful in holding the service tomorrow so we don't have to take time off work on Monday. The family is very large so it will be better for them on Monday without having to worry about others. I also heard that a colleague from my old school lost her son (24) to suicide. Don't know any details but my heart goes out to her, what a terrible loss.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

I was going ask how everyone is but I see its a mixture of news and so my last 48 hours seems insignificant. Spent best part of 48 hours dead to the world, drifting in and out of consciousness. Most of the time I had a headache(told you I should not have said I rarely suffer headaches)It was worse if I tried to lie down but sleeping meant I was out of the problem.

Initially I had no idea I was ill but someone felt my forward and said that I was burning up and when I came home on Thursday night and went to bed I was burning up but also feeling cold.

I managed to do some hot water bottles approx. 24 hours into it.

This morning I gave in and called the patient advice line 111. The operator was quite good but the Dr I was passed over to I was less impressed with and he had none of my notes that the operator said she would pass over to him. I wish I hadn't bothered phoning to be honest.

When I came off the phone I decided it was OK for me to take painkillers again, I couldn't sleep which was distressing but I took to my bed again, I found that I did drift away. By 5pm yesterday evening I found it had gone away and I did manage to get to the Ceilidh with Andrea my friend from here and another of our friends Joe. :D

And now its as if the last 48 hours was a dream and never happened. But I'm going to take it easy on Sunday and possibly Monday.

Annoying as ill as I was I was indoors and was expecting a repairman to call to look at my double glazing(they've been calling every morning)this week doing various repairs but the new front door if anyone knocks you can hardly hear them.

If they'd knock on the safety glass next to the door you can hear them very well. So I shall to chase them up on Monday. OTH Andrea says that she may have a doorbell she can let me have so that problem may be a thing of the past soon :)

Its a kind of PVC door. They don't always leave you plenty of time to get to the door either.

Sorry you have been unwell, Popperwell - take it easy and listen to your body. I usually find rest, paracetamol and plenty of fluids helps most things, plus hot honey and lemon toddies with a dash of something alcoholic thrown in. The fact is most minor ailments and injuries heal themselves in their own good time, the question is knowing when to get medical advice and from where.Whilst I can see advice lines like NHS 111 can be a useful resource in some cases, there is still no way someone can infallibly diagnose something over the phone without seeing or putting their hands on a patient. There was a running joke that NHS Direct was known as NHS Redirect because at the end of a lengthy consultation they would often tell people to go to A and E.

Not much traffic round the Garden Fence lately, perhaps we should organise a painting party? With nibbles and drinks whilst we renovate?

    Good morning Fencers.

It's been very quiet on here lately, so I think everyone must be extremely busy or extremely poorly. So I need to acknowledge those who've been feeling under the weather (esp Wondercollie and Pops), success with home schooling (Kidkat) and those with sad news and glad news.

Elona, I hope that yesterday went as well as these things can and you found strength from your family.

Tomorrow is our anniversary (30 years) and so we will be going out for a meal. Yesterday we got together with really good true friends that we have know for all of those 30 years and it was a fantastic day.

Today, back to real life. DH is at the paid stuff and I will be pottering and hopefully getting out in the garden, although it looks like its clouding over now.

Have a great day fencers. Oh and if the fence needs repainting, can't we just get someone in to do it. Not very MSE I know, but it sounds like hard work to me although I'll be around to eat the cake.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • Still here reading along being very quiet and keeping the tins full!
