Low carb cake is lovely. I use half coconut flour and half almond flour that I make myself (just finely ground almonds that I make in the food processor).

I made some low carb chocolate buns at the weekend and just put a teaspoon of sugar in the mix to bring out the natural sweetness. You can add a few choc chips or chopped chocolate so long as it is dark chocolate.

That does sound really nice grandma 247, though I must admit I lived near enough to drop in at Stilty's house to help with those leftovers!

Hope you're feeling better, Pops and wondercollie.

Fairyprincessk HUGE good luck wishes for Wednesday! If you're feeling excited about it, that must be a good sign! Liking the Tom Sawyer idea....

burtha Some beer would certainly be a nice idea, I said I'd bring Pimm's but not everyone likes that :D

Rather wet here today, but meant to brighten up later. We need to contact someone about getting our gutter cleared. DS said y'day that he'd heard a couple of pigeons flapping around outside his window first thing in the morning, so we went out the back and looked up.....sure enough there were a pair of feral pigeons (as opposed to wood pigeons), and a couple of weeds had seeded themselves up there, so that must have blocked the gutter enough to enable the pigeons to build a nest, so we need to get rid asap before any fledglings hatch.

It sounds awful that we hadn't noticed what was going on, but there's been too much else happening!

sorry to hear you have all been feeling under the weather as well as bad news. Wondercollie its ridiculous that you are not offered the flu jab etc for free , your front line for gawds sake!

softstuff what rotten barstewards :mad: they should seriously have to pay the fees for putting the back up for sale etc
Fingers crossed the property will sold very soon.

Mar i'm sick i put 20 tomato and 10 cucumber plants out, within four weeks only 6 out of 30 jave survived. Fuming isn't in it, hailstones, freezing cold temperatures, late frosts have virtually killed them off. Rhubarb went straight to seed. The rest of the seedlings have croaked it to. Looks like i will resorting to buying plants again.

Depressed over the election results but what can we do, my area voted labour, green party and *shudders* ukip. Now were facing more cuts and huge nhs kick up. Nothing good will come of this.

Buts thats another thread all together.

We have literally been attempting to sort the garden, stressed with sats, gcses, work you name it, its happens. Top it all off the weather ishocking and right now it is at an high of 8 degrees with real feel 3 degrees. brrrrrr

I'm on the mend. It's just the fatigue. I get the flu shot every winter but the pneumonia vaccine is only for those over 65.

I think part of the problem is the shoulder. It hasn't been deemed bad enough to sign me off yet but the !!!!!! hurts at the strangest times. If have to cross my hands behind my back, it screams. Turning over the wrong way in my sleep wakes me up.

Today's the day we celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday (stop laughing). It your version of a bank holiday over here for most. I'm at work till midnight.

Oldest son seems to be enjoying his new home. Has only come home for meals twice due to his girl working late and he didn't want to eat alone!

We were glad to see him.

Had a hard frost the other night and it may have claimed a geranium.

FairyPrincessk - good luck with Wednesday, I'm sure you'll be great. The cinnamon buns in the peely cans were from Mr T - they are Jusrol ones and they also do croissants, apple Danish and pain au chocolat.

They are even on offer at the moment so it counts as money saving! - :D

grandma247, I would be very interested in your low carb cake recipes if you wouldn't mind sharing, they sound delicious.
Stiltwalker, your life is so full! I hope Master Stilty enjoyed his birthday and enjoyed all the cakes.
kezlou, so sorry you have lost so many of your little plants, I've not lost too many but am fed up with this wretched weather. We will be growing webbed feet here soon!

Experimented with cauliflower mash this evening and loved it, although I'm sure it will have some effects later!

Enjoying watching the Chelsea Flower Show on tv, such talented folk.

I think I was only given it once(perhaps once means you are protected for good)but when I was given the flu jab one year they gave me one for pneumonia.

I want to say I feel much better but its a case of two steps forward...one step back. Lots of soup seems in order, its tasty, quick and is nourishing. I know I've had a chill/cold but this May is not warm so lots of hot water bottles. I've even taken to wearing PJ's again.

I think I'm OK, manage to get out for a couple of hours and then come home and have to take to my bed but I reckon if my body needs the rest, its telling me something.

As Kezlou says(others have too)its for another time and place but as we are on the MSE site and in particular an area offering support we probably in general know what a struggle it is and I do fear what the next five years has in store for many(TBH I'm not really that hopeful looking past the next five years either)

It is very much a case of living each day and not looking too far ahead(then again some of us have less time in front of us and more behind us sadly:()

I suppose we'll find a way through it all, its what we do.

We need a variety of weather but I see its been raining overnight but I think its passed over. Perhaps I'll try and have a look out later. I need some bread and milk. Lucky that I am close to the shops.

Hope its a good day for you all...

Pneumo vac is a one off jab for over 65,but is sometimes given to under 65 if there is a relevant medical condition.

Yes Pops the pneumonia vaccine is for life that is why I thought it would be worth Wondercollie paying for it. I did not have mine with my flu jab they decided to wait two weeks to be on the safe side before giving me the pneumonia one because I was so vulnerable to infection. Chances are I am probably immune as I came in contact with it so often when I was nursing but it is as well to be on the safe side.
