Have a great day fencers. Oh and if the fence needs repainting, can't we just get someone in to do it. Not very MSE I know, but it sounds like hard work to me although I'll be around to eat the cake.
No worries, Jazee, you can be in charge of the tea urn. Just keep the cuppas coming! One life - your life - live it!0 -
Maybe there are enough of us to paint just one panel each?
I'll bring a jug of Pimm's and we'll hope for a few dry days so the paint can dry properly.
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, had some stressful family stuff going on which seemed to overshadow everything else, but it's calmed down now.
Very proud of OH, he managed to cut the grass a few days ago and it was really long! He was very weary afterwards, but he got it done just in time, as it was very wet the next day. DS had meant to do it, but he's hurt his back and has had to ask for "light duties" at work as his job atm usually involves quite a lot of lifting. he's getting better though0 -
ivyleaf, now you're talking! I am in on the cake too, but something low carb for me, I need to shift a few pounds.
The weather is wet and windy again - in between there is warm sunshine, but not much!
DD has gone out with friends for the afternoon, she's having lunch and a few drinks so I will have something healthy later on when I've been to a funeral service for my friends Dad.
Pops, I hope you are feeling better and have managed a trip out.0 -
Ill paint. Don't want cake, but if anyone's up for a barbie I'll supervise the cooking. :beer:Dor0

Tea and Cake count me out can't stand either. Who ever heard of a low carb cake? If you take the carbs out you are left with butter and an egg.
It looks like it is about to rain so I don't think we will be having a BBQ. Time for a nice bit of roast beef I think.0 -
Oh Maggie, I wish I didn't like cake! Or chocolate come to that0

Evening all - been busy here so reading but not getting chance to post. Had a fab week away then back to the traditional tons of washing, plus we'd arranged to have Master Stilty's birthday do, otherwise known as Cakefest as I just bake a bunch of cakes, stick them on the table and declare open house to our friends, for today so spent most of yesterday baking and cleaning. As always I overcatered so my section of the fence is going to be very popular as I have leftover cake!!! I baked cherry and almond loaf cake, Darjeeling fruit tea bread, coffee cup cakes with vanilla icing and gold glitter (woo!), lemon and white chocolate macaroons, strawberry and blueberry flapjack, rocky road and cinnamon swirl buns (the only cheaty one as it came out of the magic tins, like pilsbury doughboy styley).
Going to continue to be quiet as I have masses of stuff coming up but will be reading along and thinking good wishes and hugs to those who need them - X0 -
There are plenty of things I do like but I certainly could not eat pudding and cakes or I would be "like a house side" as my mother used to put it. being only 4ft 9in I can eat very little, certainly not sweet stuff every day.0

Morning all,
All of this fence painting sounds exciting. Jazee, perhaps we could try the Tom Sawyer approach to painting? We might even earn some pocket fluff in exchange for the privilege of painting our fence.
I hope Pops and Wondercollie are feeling better. Hugs for Softstuff and Camelot
I've been buckling down in exam prep, starting to feel a bit excited as well. It is this Wednesday so it will all be over soon. One thing is for sure, I can talk for ages on the topic so at least there won't be any awkward silences. Although my posting habits here might suggest otherwise, I'm normally a very quiet person and not known for 'waffling' so I guess it is all in finding a topic I like.
Saturday I planted out courgettes, harvested more mint for tea and pulled a few weeds. I've also cut down/out the skirt ready for sewing. Yesterday was primarily spent on chores--menu planning, shop, cleaning bedroom etc. I also tidied up my 'fripperies' drawer and found a few things I'd forgotten about. Some posh face cream samples, a hat pin and rotated my stack of handkerchiefs. My grandmother is always very sweet and sends me the free samples/gifts she gets when she buys her department store makeup. I rarely buy enough in one go to earn the free stuff, but as I don't wear much and usually only a few days a week it actually keeps me in supply.
Today I need to head to the post office--I'm sending my dad his father's day treats a bit early as he is having a minor procedure and I think he'll enjoy them as it involves being flat for a number of hours. A friend in the states also needs cheering up, so I'm sending her a mug, some biscuits and a pack of Yorkshire gold. I can't be there to have her round for a cuppa so did the next best thing.
Tonight's tea is soup, bread, hummus and cheese. We also have a jerk chicken thigh left, so I might slice that up and turn it into some sandwiches. Then we're off to hear the music I thought we were hearing last week. Turns out I had the dates wrong. OH said he would get home early so we could run through some of my questions first.
My younger brother has also just gotten a job in his field. I'm very pleased for him.
Stiltwalker I hope Master Stilty had a very happy birthday indeed! (Who wouldn't with all of those cakes?!) Can I please ask, where did you find cinnamon buns in the peel cans? I've only rarely seen the cans in the UK--for awhile they had them in Aldi with crescent rolls. The cinnamon buns were a special treat when I was growing up--I'd enjoy the nostalgia if I could find them here.0
