Summerlady, I think that you posted at just the right time! It seems that a few of us have been feeling a bit sluggish and your post, combined with a bit more daylight (and even a little bit of sunshine!) have given us the push that we needed.
I'm another one who is trying to lose weight. I usually love a walk and spending time working in the garden but I've really been very lazy over the winter.
I'm going to try harder to get moving, even if it's just carrying things upstairs and a few vigorous cleaning sessions! (I have visitors due in about a month's time so that'll be an extra incentive!:o)
I can't help thinking about that quote 'If you want something done, ask a busy man' (or woman!) I used to do so much when I got in from a busy day's work, now I'm at home all day and do very little once tea time is over. That's going to change now that the light nights are on their way!
Good luck everyone and well done!:)

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

  • It's good to hear that people are starting to get their energy back.

I had a bad diet day yesterday, but lost 1lb so I'm not unhappy. I'll make up a salad today - if I don't, I grab the nearest food to hand when I get hungry.
    for today
    Breakfast and medication
    Shower and dress
    put a laundry load on
    e-mails and correspondence
take sister to her exercise class and go on to my class
clear and clean kitchen - it's become a bit of a dumping ground just lately
a bit of ironing and some sewing or knitting

I think that will be enough for today.
It all seems very dreary - is anyone doing anything interesting?

I did all the things I planned to do last night, I even danced around for a while :)

Tonight, I'm going to do another wash and get the ironing done before I sit down and slob.

Can't wait for the evenings to get lighter so I can get out walking.

I have been thinking for the past few [STRIKE]weeks[/STRIKE] months of starting a thread like this and, guess what - I never got round to it. :o As some people on this board will already know, I have been suffering from mental health problems, and housework / gardening / healthy eating have been way down my list of priorities on days when even getting out of bed in the morning is a major undertaking. :( I'm now mostly better (at least on the majority of days), but everything is such an overwhelming mess that I don't know where to start, so just don't do anything. :o

A few weeks ago I rejoined the OS weightloss thread (well worth joining - they're a lovely, encouraging bunch) and have lost 3lb in three weeks, despite some bad days. My next priority is to start doing something - anything, really - to sort out my dirty, untidy flat. I'm sure that sharing it with a group of like-minded people here will do wonders for me, and hopefully help someone else too.
Back after a very long break!

CCP well done on the weight loss. your doing better than me. re tidying you can do it! maybe start by getting hold a carrier bag filling it and flinging it? I find this very rewarding.
  • Hi all.

I tried to post last night - got halfway through and my computer switched off.

Well done CCP on your weight loss.

Another well done to all the procrastinators who've tackled some of our bugbear jobs, or have just got off our chairs and done something.

My life changes seem to be a fairly random mix of things - I really need to change so much, because being in a rut was making me unhappy. Even though I seem to be taking two steps forward and one back, I feel much happier.

I'm still working on making my morning routine into a habit - but with perseverance I will get there.

I signed up for a weekly exercise class, and have decided to take a 2 mile walk once a week. Hoping this will lead on to bigger and better things - I once walked everywhere.

For today - I'm out with a friend. She wants to go shopping and have lunch out, so I will do some window shopping and have a lovely time anticipating what I'll buy when I get to my target weight.

I have a client this evening so I'll prepare for her before I go.

The sun is shining here - always makes me feel better.

I wish everyone a productive and enjoyable day.

Summerlady, send some sunshine my way please. It's grey and rainy here and apparently it's been snowing/sleeting a few miles down the road where my friend works. I do think the weather is affecting my motivation to do stuff.
  • Hi all

Sorry, His Missus, I tried the sunshine dance, but I just switched it off down here too.

Weekend was a dead loss - I achieved nothing.

Today I got up in a more positive frame of mind and cracked straight on with my exercises (for mobility as I have a dodgy hip and shoulder). Breakfast, medication. shower and dress and then put the laundry on.
Worked out a meal plan, made up a shopping list and went to the supermarket. I came back, had a late lunch and listened to a business start-up webinar on-line.
I'm going to get started on an early dinner in a while as I'm going to my craft group this evening. In the meantime I'll do a quick buzz round in the bathroom.
It will be too late to do anything when I get back, but I will get an audiobook ready to play in bed - something relaxing.

I am really pleased with myself - I've filled up my fridge with fresh fruit and vegetables, chicken and fish. I am making an effort to stick to my Slimming World plan this week. (it's cheaper than buying lots of biscuits and cakes and ready meals too)

  • Dinner on so I can write up my plan for tomorrow

    Up early, exercises, breakfast, meds.
Shower, hair, teeth, face, moisturise all over, makeup, dress, style hair and put on perfume (I've been reading the Frump to Fab threads).
    sort my emails and correspondence.
    Quick tidy of bedroom
    Out by 10am
    Back around 4pm
to client - back around 6pm
    dinner and tidy kitchen
meeting - neighbourhood thing which will probably drag on because everyone wants to say something.
sort out clothes for next day, read for a while or watch TV, ready for bed with audiobook
