    Thanks Kelloggs and Marthax

I may not have been clear enough, but no payment has ever been made as an assessment was concluded only a couple of months ago.

She did fob off my CRO with the poor Xmas story, so I am still waiting for my first payment.

Even if she (the NRP) doesn't default, can I insist on a DEO, or do I have to wait until she defaults in the future. Basically ... the next time that I speak to my CRO, can I tell him to implement it, even if her first payment goes through.

Thanks again, and sorry if I have been repeating myself.

If payments start and continue, then there will be no need for a DEO and you can't insist on one. If she defaults however, they may consider that she is unreliable and put one on at that stage.

They need to miss two weekly or one monthly payment before you can ask for it to go to Deduction of Earnings.

    Thanks again kelloggs & N17

That clears that up. What a pity, I could save a lot of time and expense if I could insist upon it right away. I know that she will default right away ... assuming I ever get me first payment through.

    Thanx again ...

  • just to advise - although deo is by far the best method of collection if one is imposed it can take up to 6/8 weeks for the 1st payment to be received - depending on the nrp's pay frequency and the accounting proceddures of the company. the employer has up until the 19th of the following month after the dedutction is made so if someone is monthly paid on the 1st each month and the order is issued today the employer will hopefully take a payment on 1/2/08 they then have to the 19th of march to get that payment to the csa - this then has to clear with them and be passed to you. This is the worse case scenio but can and does happen. This is why the agency prefer to only inpose these where they are sure the nrp is not goin to pay

I dont beleive that at all nor do i think many women do either. I think csa isnt sexist when it comes to getting money. I waited from nov 04 till nov 07 to get any money and still i am not getting the full amout i was awarded nor have i seen any of the nearly 4 grand arrears that i am owed. Just wondering though i was told by advisor at the wonderful Bolton office they would only do a doe if there was three months of no payments what so ever. Is this correct?

I think Kellogs mentioned before that we are obviously partial to our own experiences. And I do believe that,s true, and I do appreciate that it must be less frequent for men to apply for csa but we are all as parents in the same boat if we are not receiving financial support for our children. It is horrible when the children you love are not receiving the help they are entitled to,and as a parent I feel very badly about that.Lets not be anti women/men in the struggle against csa as both the dads of my 3 children are well paid individuals, with no financial or emotional input into their children,s lives. One is a Head teacher who wrote a letter to my 17 yr old daughter explaining he emmigrated to Australia last year to avoid csa,she would not read past the first page she was so distressed, and my 2nd partner a consultant in nhs who albeit probably not responsible for lack of D.O.E.,S via csa,it dsnt take into account he denied paternity of my 2 year old son to csa,as he said "to ensure I gave up work while csa attempted to prove he was real dad and to ensure I never got a mortgage again".and it was through lack of paying the proved parentage maintenance some time later that he ended up with a D.O.E.

My first husband in 06 alone accrued £6,500 in arrears for 2 children and thats not for the last year at all as he has disappeared to Australia,we have no idea where he is,bar he sends the odd email to my middle son and letter. Now my youngest,s dad,in arrears also with d.o.e to tune of a £1000 plus,a lot of money to me when I,M supporting all 3 children myself.I work full time too.I just think its important we share our experiences, help, and sucesses with csa but lets not get anti women or men as surely as much as we would all like an easier financial life, the real point is we have a responsibility as carers for our children to give them a good life, and we all get really down at times but lets use the forum as equals and appreciate that there are good mums, dads and bad mums, dads, but to say its gender related is a bit much.I too feel angry, let down and a bloody failure,as in reality Ive had 2 partners who have been the same,so I always feel guilty.

Also, with my 1st husband it took me over 4 years to ever apply for maintenance as I believed him when he said he wanted to look after the kids without their input.
Was I stupid, yes in hindsight, but at the end of the day anybody contacting csa is at the end of their tether or has with experience learnt the hard way.I still believe in the foundation of csa whether it works or not,and for me it hasnt.but it was set up for children of parents who wont aknowledge their children,s rights.I have 2 many times come off the phone to csa crying, shaking and feeling worthless, to reminding myself what my daughter said ,17 yrs said ,if you give up now mum,its saying we are not worth fighting for and we are nothing.and for anybody who has given up that is not a criticism,I just have older children, who say their bit.but it does spur me on.please good luck to everybody.x

I did get a doe after a month of non payment back in Aug 06,so dont know whether the rules have changed since then.or whether Im up to date.Probably not, think it even annoyed csa Bolton, when the NRP shouted at Bolton down the phone ,he was in Spain on a windsurfing holiday and he didnt have time for csa that they granted a doe.must add I dont get it paid though.however dsnt mean you wont ,so go for everything now Rach,as I think like me too,you are determined not to go thru 2008 like 2007.I am not that good on computers so excuse me ok.

I'm Sad - you are so right. It really winds me up that some people just can't see past their own experiences to acknowledge that theirs is not the same experience as everybody else's. I too agree with the idea that all children should have the benefit of the support of both parents, but as you have experienced, and I too have experienced, there are some parents who will do ANYTHING to avoid paying - they come up with an array of reasons, be it because the other parent keeps it for themselves, or that the Treasury get it and my children don't, or they are as blatant as to make it clear that they want to punish the other parent for whatever it is they feel the need to punish them for. The bottom line is that children will always lose out in this situation - whether or not you feel you have a right to deny paying the other parent, children do cost money and whether they spend the money directly or indirectly on them doesn't matter as they get the benefit in one way or another. There are of course some who do try and milk the system, but they are in all walks of life.
