    Hello again!
I agree with you digby dog. I recently wrote to this guy's bank (Lloyds) and, for want of anyone better, I addressed my letter to The Manager at his branch. I even attached a copy of my comments on this forum. No response....not even an acknowledgement.
I still have this man's voice on my answerphone at home. I'm wondering about posting a recording of it on Youtube. It's quite a distinctive voice and someone is bound to recognise him. I could even make a video explaining how I was scammed and how much (how little) help I've had in retrieving it. What I'd really like to do is to circulate a recording to those who've been scammed to make sure we have the same thief. The banks are doing nothing, the police don't want to know, Action Fraud are too busy to even bother. Anybody like to join me to help catch this crook?

Can I remind everyone to keep trying BBC Watchdog. I have consolidated a lot of details on post #48.

The more requests they get the more likely they will do something about it / him.... I would suggest, post and email contact..
  • I sent an email to Natwest bank, got no answer and then sat down and wrote down all the account number,s etc; these guys had used to scam people , i then phoned natwest bank and was asked for my account number and my sort code so i give them the number of the one the scum bag had used to scam me ( i am not with natwest bank ) so i was put through, i think the guy in the bank was a bit shocked that i had been put through when that wasnt even my account number or sort code, first he said he could not discuss this with me as i wasnt with this bank and he could not talk to me, i said thats very funny how i was able to be put through when i give you this guys account number and sort code so he is still with your bank when you have been told what he is doing as you were able to bring me up his sort code and account number so i now want to speak to the manger, i was then put through to a girl who deals with fraud and of course was told a lot of nonsense about how they dont let people like that deal in their bank , i have to say i got very angry and said how the heck are they still with you when the account number is still being used, so believe it or not i got a food hamper yesterday from natwest with a card saying, i am sorry for the upset and distress caused ,i hope this gift is received in the spirit it was intended along with our sincere apologies ,Kind Regards Charlotte Rainbow. , , well maybe it was meant to help but im sorry i don't want a hamper i want my £408 back which i lost out of my pension and i want these scum bags put behind bars before they cause other people the stress they have caused us.

It may be worthwhile contacting the other BBC consumer show.

Well I finally have something positive to report ~ though not quite positive enough because it seems I won’t be getting my £797 back.
I had a ‘phone call last night from Sussex Police to tell me my scammer has been caught. He lives in Croydon and he was in court yesterday morning where he admitted to scamming me and 21 others …..this time!
He was only released from jail earlier this year after being given four years in 2013 (though it seems he must have only served 18 months!!) for over 100 similar offences and there’s an interesting article about his last court appearance on 14th March 2013 in the Crawley News. Also you can check him out on the Sussex Police website. If you read about him you’ll see why I agree with his first name, but I have my own more descriptive version of his surname! Just Google ‘Crawley man jailed for fraud Sussex Police’ and you’ll be able to read about him for yourself.
As the article shows, he tends to focus on classic car enthusiasts, particularly older people like me, so he may not be the same person who has scammed everyone else on this forum. I asked the detective if he could be linked to Car Partz Finder and he said that nothing had showed up to that effect but it may of course be a possibility. Personally, because his scamming technique is so similar, I think he may well be.
Apparently I have to apply to the court for compensation but the police officer told me that because the fraudster has no assets it’s unlikely I’ll get any of my cash returned.
Despite this I’m so pleased that the police did, contrary to my earlier comments, follow up on this case and that this low life has been caught. This time he will hopefully be locked away for much longer than 18 months..
What still leaves me angry, apart from the loss of cash of course, is that he was able to open a bank account so easily and that, had they acted on my first telephone call to Lloyds fraud team, the account could have been frozen pending investigation. It was me who was treated as if I was trying to do something illegal, while they were protecting their ‘customer’. Lloyds still haven’t even acknowledged my letter. I also want to know where my money is now….. what’s the chance that it’s hidden in another Lloyds bank account somewhere waiting for his release from prison?
I will post on here the result of my compensation claim but I’m not holding my breath for a positive outcome. It just remains to thank you all for your support. I sincerely hope your cases are solved too!
  • Hi Atryboo. im so pleased for you, like you we lost a lot of money and may never get it back, im going to see if i can find that scum bag on the police report, HE or THEY scammed us with natwest bank but i know these guys use other banks, i also want them behind bars , like you we are not into this new world of scammers but we are wise now , i shall see what i can come up with , like i said we got a food hamper so natwest bank knows what is going on, why would they send us a food hamper, i am going to bring the card we got with the hamper into my bank and see what they think, good luck

Thanks for the reply Digby Dog. I hope you have a positive outcome. My next plan is to have another go at Lloyds Bank for their lack of ....... cooperation/encouragement/sympathy/support/enthusiasm/response!
  • I spent the day on the phone to natwest bank plus my own bank, my bank was to phone me back but didnt, when i got through to natwest i was told i was committing an offence by using the sort code and account number of the scammers, i told the guy on the phone he can take me to court if he likes as i had no other way of getting through to anyone and once again that goes to prove they are still with your bank, i was told i wont be getting any money back from them and to go see my own bank, i told him i would gladly give up the £408 to see these guys behind bars and he said thats for the police to decide, i did email Watch dog , I know now im meant to give up and thats how i feel right now, I have wasted from the 6th of june on the phone etc; and got nowhere , i just wish everyone on this site the best of luck and once again thank the guy who started it, i wish i had saw it before i handed over my money,
