    I've been Money Tipped!
Didn't think TAs earnt much, especially as you've been out of work so long.

Is that what you plan to do?

I went to one of those parties once where we all threw our keys into a hat, i've never been very lucky. I got my own keys back.

At least you ended up with someone that you probably loved though (joking, not being offensive).

  • I think (could be wrong though!) that a TA will get paid all year round rather than term time only, and a higher level TA would be paid more?

Also, OP would get tax credits.

I'm looking at just under 20K for full time level 3 TA
I have a few specialist subjects too plus SEN experience.
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.
  • Don't think it's fair to say they won't cope financially on a TA wage you don't know there circumstances.

Me and my partner are contemplating this, we are yet to start a family but are planning on in the next year or so, we both work full time and I'm currently mid-way through a 1 year public health degree so when I qualify I will get a much higher wage, and partner earns about 20k, the plan currently is for me to go back after 9months maternity and him return part-time.
What's the harm in trying? Regarding housework this is my fear as I also am abit of a perfectionist and worry if he will just do the bare minimum haha! Perhaps a cleaner once a week? Amy x

Yes I will get paid all year.
Higher level TA's are on a higher wage they are essentially what was once called a school nursery nurse.

We will survive on my wage, we are followers of minimalist living (having what for us are essentials and not much more) we have no interest in foreign holidays new cars etc we live a very simple life.

To be fair I think he may turn out to be better at the housework than me. After doing it for 13 years and many years of being a nanny before that, my motivation for keeping house gets less every day!

  • Do you have an HLTA qualification- it is not a L3 TA. You have to be accredited.

  • We've been talking recently about my husband not being happy at work. My wage is only half yours but I've told my husband we will scrape by if he is truly unhappy. I know he'll find other work, but in the meantime it would be a struggle. He's stressed and demoralised, and I don't want him to be.

ETA: I think the discussion has made him happier, he's looking for other work now but is still in his current job.
