We got ours sorted just at the end of June. Hubby had his notification last week, then was informed he was getting an extra £2 a week in state pension. Today another letter adjusting his tax code under the marriage allowance arrived so..........
All sorted.
It was so simple after all the worry about how to ID myself.I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.:eek:0 -

At last a clue, having gone all through the new thread but saw a link back to this one.
Unable to get past online verification, gave all details over phone and told these were being passed to a special section - no explanation - who would ring back.
Although now pensioners, both my wife and I were civil servants when we got our NI numbers, both prefix Z.
Can relax now I hope. Thanks whitewitch. Have you had that call yet?0 -
My better half just got her invitation to apply this morning - 5 months after the initial 'invitation'. So don't worry if you haven't had your email, it will come eventually.
The verification process is very simple, especially if the person donating the allowance is also the recipient of Tax Credits. The sign-up process involved giving names, NI numbers, total earnings, and the last 4 digits of the bank account which receives any Tax Credit payments. Took 5 mins to complete.
It was much harder renewing my Road Tax online!!!
Hope this helps.0 -
Have just done mine, very easy.0

I am retired and paying income tax on my pensions at the basic rate, my wife is in long term care and cannot make an informed decision to transfer any tax allowance. Can I apply on her behalf or will I have to apply to the courts to be a deputy?0
-
Legally only she can do it. Make of that what you will but it can often be done wholly on line. How are other important decisions made ?0

If by that you mean that it could be sone by someone other than the genuine donor then that is a bit naughty, it is usual in such circumstances to have a power of attorney. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
I am a Civil Servant pensioner and had no problem verifying on line.0

Power of attorney can only be conferred by a person having cognition of their actions, which, unfortunately is not the case. Looks like I will have to apply to be a deputy, but, that may not be be a solution. Thanks for your response0
