I've just done it. Had an email from them with a link, clicked on the link and all I had to put in was mine and hubby's National Insurance number and thats it. No verification via Experian or anything. Have had confirmation that a new tax code will be sent to his employer and thats it.
At least I hope thats it!!!
Am a bit worried now because some of you seem to be saying you need to ID yourself with passport, driving licence, credit card etc.
I had none of that, just put in the NI numbers and date of birth.I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.:eek:0 -
As I've said before on this thread, I registered on the very first day I was able to (February 20th). I had an Email at the end of March saying I would be one of the first to receive an invitation to apply but have had nothing since then and am still waiting! I was also told in the Email in February that I would receive this invitation within 14 weeks. This timespan ran out last Friday so I rung HMRC up and after waiting for 40 minutes finally got through only to be told that there were "teething problems" with the beta trial and that there was nothing I could do other than to keep an eye on my Emails! All very frustrating but at least it will be backdated to April 6th! Good job we are not desperate for the money!
So Silvasava, you are not alone in your frustrations! Hope this helps those in the same position as me.
Just noticed you refer to teething problems with the beta trial. I wonder if that's why it seems to have worked for me just putting DOB and national insurance numbers in with names? I noticed it said Beta trial at top of the page.I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.:eek:0 -
Wife got her email today, tried the link and it doesn't work. So we have to phone up, which means she (who hates doing things over the phone) will have to persuade them to talk to me.
Should be such a simple process!
Tried to do the phone method yesterday and gave up after holding on for nearly an hour on a costly landline call (my three signal was non existent so no choice).
Worth also noting that the alternative numbers on Saynoto0870 are no good from a landline as they are intended for international callers and recognise you aren't one, then terminate the call.
Tried again this morning at 0835 on my mobile and got through within 5 minutes, all sorted in another few minutes.
One of the differences this morning was I remembered to say just "Marriage Allowance" when the auto prompt asked what it was about, that seemed to get me through to an advisor quickly who knew exactly what to do.0 -

It's nonsensical as on the phone you give the donor's full name, nino, dob, address, work status, how many/what pensions, and the same for the recipient and it's done. ANY two people could do that as long as they have those details at hand.0 -
After registering my interest in the Marriage Allowance some weeks back I have now received an email from HMRC with a link to copy & paste so I can verify my ID online. Tried it but it didn't work. Foolishly I didn't make a note of the phone number to contact them, but tried to verify online again. Nothing happened. Suppose it's a security thing. Tried phoning the number for income tax queries. What a joke! All I got was automated garbage which suggested they couldn't help with my query & that they were very busy so should try ringing another time. Then "the voice" said Goodbye & I was disconnected. Never even got a chance to speak to a real person. Is this what passes for service? Quite shocking. Have tweeted my discontent to them but won't hold my breath for a reply. I bet it would be a different story if I owed them money!0

You should be able to use the e-mail link 3 times.0

Got my invite yesterday, gathered all my details together and the website wouldn't let me apply! Phoned this morning about 10am & all completed over the phone in about 5 mins. Looking back over the posts I realise I did say Marriage Allowance & the operator who took my call did make sure that I had received my invitation.
Good Luck to everyone who is still waiting as I know how frustrating it is.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

And all this is down to public service cuts - thanks Cameron.0
