Heyo - all fine, slept well (despite Clooney staring at me) got home smoothly, snuggled my LL (who was so busy having fun with FGN he barely noticed I wasn't there :), did a tiny bit of essential food shopping in Lidl, 2 loads of washing, ran with Ozzy,

Adjusted some feng shui again in the household...changed the water on my lucky bamboo and repositioned. Cleaned up Buddha's area and gave him a good old stroke lol. Did that money chant (last time I did that you all found your paper roadkill so keep your eyes to the ground kids) ;) Scanned my GP note and emailed it to manager. Nice email back. Feeling quite upbeat today all in all. Then at 3pm I had my first CBT session and I have *homework* which is to ascertain which issue I want to mainly focus on because CBT works best if you streamline it to one thing but then use the skills learned to help with anything else too.. makes sense.. and I want mainly to focus on stopping the voice that tells me I am worthless and useless all the time. I am seeing her again same time next week.

Had an interesting offer from a friend today who said LL and I could move into her 3 bedroom house and pay less rent than I do now and have the space of a garden, more room for LL and Ozzy, plus the benefits for house sharing stuff like uhm.. ON TAP babysitting/dogsitting :D and shared housework.. etc. My friend is a very chilled out individual who I'm sure would be drama-free and the offer has only come up because of her parents recently moving elsewhere and her buying them out of the house with a plan to take lodgers.

It's about 20 minutes drive south of where I currently live, nice area still easy enough for work/school. I am finding myself giving it serious thought because it would free up a good couple of hundred quid a month to go to my debt. What'dya think? I could take up the offer as soon as the end of the month and as most of the furniture doesn't belong to me it would be surprisingly easy to me (us) to move.

    Feeling
    - on a mission to be debt-free by the end of 2017 -

Well from that description frankly it sounds like a no-brainer... you get all the above, and she gets a lodger she already knows and trusts.

What does your heart say, as well as your head? Can you perhaps talk it through with someone who knows you both?

Oh Levi what an opportunity!! Sounds fantastic if you are sure that you know your friend well enough I would say go for it but make sure ground rules and agreements are in writing. The company and support will help you through and you, LL and O will bring such happiness. If it feels right then it is, I was almost ready to offer you moving in my house as I hardly use half of it but already have a lodger and live north, right I'm going now as sound a bit stalkerish not a word I know, just excited for you :)

Now I don't want to be the one who pours water on the possible plan, but just think about when LL has a strop / is poorly / Ozzie decides to start howling at night / has an accident. Friend wants to bring a 'friend' back. If LL needs someone to have him during day / overnight do you think FGN would still be willing to help out. From a financial point of view and company for you / her, have to agree it is a no brainier, but think of a few negatives and maybe discuss with her. Pleased you have had a more upbeat day and sorry if I have just spoilt it - not intended. Xx

Hey, brilliant you got home with no hassle on the roads and LL was so happy with FGN while you were away!! (Knew he would be!)

As for your decision obviously only you can decide what to do, but I can put forward a few pros and cons based on my own experiences of house/flat sharing! I'm sure you'll have shared before so you already know all these, but just a reminder....

Pros - obviously the lower rent and the chance to save money is a big plus - will the rent include bills, or would you work those out as the bills came in and pay your share? If its all incl then you know exactly what you'll be paying - if it's PAYG with the bills then obviously you don't, apart from an estimate based on your friend's current bills, and the house could cost more to run potentially than your flat.

Would be great to have a garden! LL and Ozzy would love it and it would be very good for them both. When I lived in a flat I really missed a garden especially when it was lovely weather.

On tap babysitting/petsitting etc - brilliant but you also more or less have this now with your wonderful FGN.

Company - can be great, but equally could be on the cons side too, depending on how much you want your own space. (which can vary, depending on how you're feeling etc.)

Cons - Wanting to put your washing on and finding that housemate is already doing theirs. Wanting to cook your dinner but finding that housemate is already cooking theirs. Will they take ages in the bathroom in the mornings? LOL:rotfl: Will they want the heating on when you want it off and off when you want it on??

Basically you are losing a degree of your independence and by becoming lodgers you are living in someone else's house rather than having sole occupancy and being able to do exactly what you want to do when you want to do it. It all depends on the person you're sharing with how well this will work - some people find they hardly cross paths with their housemates but others are continually struggling with these kinds of issues. Your friend sounds like an easy-going person but things like this still need thinking about.

If she started seeing someone or had a partner? Or if you did? How would that work - or if she got married (that happened to me, and I had to move, which wasn't a problem as I knew it would be likely to happen.)

Which leads me on to security - if you move in you have to be aware that as a lodger you could need to move again if your friend's circumstances change. How much security do you have in your current flat? How much do you like/love/ dislike/ etc your current flat? What are all the things you enjoy about being there??

Sorry to have gone on and on!!!!!!!! It probably comes down to going with your heart. Whichever decision gives you the most peace, go with that.....peace is a signal you're on the right track. xxxx

You are right BILLIE there are many points to be taken into account. Never mind LL having a strop it's Levi that's the worry :rotfl: all in all anyone offering a new home to a family including a young child and a dog will have to be made aware of the ups and downs if they are not already. I would suspect that they have given thought to this, however a lodger that they know and can trust is a massive plus. Don't make a rush decision Levi and be sure that sharing bathrooms/ kitchen at busy times etc will not be an issue for you.
