  • There is no 'only', £100 is a lot of money to save.

How about alternative gift ideas? Do IOUs for family, things which mean the most to them like a day out, a meal somewhere, a day babysitting. That way the cost, and your time, is spread over 2022. You'll be surprised how well they go down with people.

  • Good idea to boost the xmas fund and pay off the balance from your credit card before trying to save more.

I agree with MF with the IOU.’s or get the whole family on board and set a limit per person. We set a limit of £15 for xmas and £10 for birthdays.

Great ideas for moneysaving ladies, to be honest though i will give £50 to mum and dad each (vouchers they love them), and £30 to brother and niece & two friends. Then i just have two presents to buy for female friends. Andy and I dont really buy presents. We just eat!!!! This year pressies will only cost £220 I hope.

Payday at midnight not that Im desperate or anything. The highlight of my working month!  :p

Hurrah £1973 earned from new job (a rise of £187 after travel is paid for), from this, I am using £390 for household bills, £120 food, £100 fun a bit tight but in an emergency I will use my credit card, £332 cc bill (I already have 132 for this), mortgage and overpayment £1100, £94 Christmas Fund. I get £500 from lodger too.

So happy the extra hours are worth it and make up for my dreadful wage cut in the last few years.

  • That's impressive!
Seeing your mortgage payment I can understand why things are tight.
