    Just had this problem too.

There should be a protocol on all sites that one cannot change the status (subscriptions, cards, address etc) of an account without having to re-enter your login details. At least that makes one aware that something is about to change.

Why do we have to have this idiotic response every ****y time.

Amazon know that their customers are not perfect, just the same as the rest of the human race.

A good site does not retain wording/flow that continues to cause people to do something they don't want to do - even if it is their 'fault'.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

Serves them right. People should be smart enough to know that nothing is "free". I hear it all the time whenever I buy anything that they'll 'throw' in a month free as if it's an effortless nothing, like giving you a carrier bag with your order like it would make no sense not to since it's "free"....

They have your bank card / credit card details.... They throw this 'free' month in, which is accounted for in their costs with the hopes people find that the service is good for them, or that they simply forget to cancel. With a busy lifestyle, people can do without adding other things to the "remember to-do" list

You can cancel immediately. Take up the free month offer, immediately cancel. This gives you one free month. No risk of paying anything after a month, no need to remember to cancel. Easy.
  • I never realised I had unknowingly become a prime member and been paying £79/- for the last two year!! The last payment was last month and I never received any alerts/emails from Amazon.

If you want to become a true money-saver, you need to learn to check your statements regularly. ;)

God there are some smug, sanctimonious people on here. The 'serves them right' brigade who have no sympathy for those who end up having to pay out £79.

My 82 year old father has just had a bank statement with a 'mysterious' £79 deduction on it. He knew it was from Amazon, but had not a clue what it was for. Imagine the stress and worry that it caused him. He neither streams TV nor films, nor knows how to. He does not own a Kindle. He does not have any digital photographs. Apparently though, it's his fault, not Amazon's.

Before you rush to have a go at the stupidity of others, have a think-there may be some people out there who through no fault of their own are more vulnerable and less internet-savvy than you!

So what have you done to help your father get his money refunded?

Have Amazon said it was your Father's fault, not their's?
