BMW drivers usually are the worst in my experience. But not the majority of BMW's that are rep mobiles/eco boxes. I mean the select few with their high powered 6 cylinder engines or the M cars are usually the worst of them all.

In a thread that is basically a free for all for slagging off of different stereotyped drivers, I don't see anything wrong with what he's said. It is merely an opinion, no more or less valid than anybody else's.........

It's getting to be a little bit like your stalking the guy........

neither are you - the maximum speed limit is 70mph.

Before you learnt about speed limits, you would have been told to drive on the left. Why not just do that?
You've no idea what speed you're actually doing (unless you've got a certificate showing your speedo has been calibrated) and you've no idea what the person behind you's speedo says. Staying in the outside lane like this to control peoples' speed is an act of aggression, and is NOT good driving. You're teaching them nothing.

If I'm traveling at or near to 70, and it is safe and necessary to overtake, I will do so. Speeders you have been warned.

How certain are you of the accuracy of your speedo?

I only ask because I have been stuck behind cars in the outside lane that are holding a steady 65 mph or less. I can only assume that they are inconsiderate drivers or that their speedos are under-reading.

What Gloomendoom said. Remember in all situations - you should not cause another driver to change their course or speed. If Cornucopia pulls out in front of someone to make an overtake, and that person has to slow down, that's bad driving. Note no mention of speed in that sentence.

    That makes no sense.

If I am driving sensibly, safely and legally, and my progress is impeded by someone who isn't, then that's not right.

I'm not talking about "pulling out in front of someone", I'm talking about making a legitimate maneouvre, where any vehicles behind are far enough away at the commencement of the maneouvre as to not be an issue of safety or considerate driving. If they continue speeding and come up behind me before I complete my maneouvre that is their fault, not mine. I am not forcing them to slow down, they are doing that to themselves by speeding in the first place.

If someone is speeding, then as a very basic precaution they need to be prepared to slow down to the speed limit (or below) at any point in time, and for as long as is necessary.

There is no right to overtake. And no right to collide, either.

Cornucopia - you've just described a world where everyone is required to drive at exactly the same speed, 70 (according to your speedo) in this case, so therefore, overtaking would never actually be necessary.
If you get into your car everyday thinking you're not going to be impeded, you're gonna be disappointed!
You said yourself, there's no right to overtake. YOU as the overtaker, are required to do it safely, and without impeding others. If you think that pulling out in front of faster moving traffic is good driving, think again.
What gives you the right to overtake someone, but not someone else the right to overtake you (again, maybe he thinks you're doing 65)?
