Same as you. However, in my part of it, it is always raining. :D

Intellectually, I realise that of the 30 million diesel vehicles in the country, 29,999,900 smell like spring flowers and only 100 of them emit clouds of smelly fumes, but practically, I can say with absolute certainty, that I have been stuck behind pretty much all of them. :rotfl:

People who view the braking gap you've left, taking into consideration speed and conditions, as fair game to swerve into, most of the time with no indication. Especially fun in the wet!
No-one should be able to pull out around you and back in and be a surprise to you. They should be indicating, but you should also be aware of your surroundings. And if you're not overtaking, leave a gap!
On the same note, people who block you from coming out of a junction and act as if you aren't there.

'Give Way' - don't expect people to just stop, and stop a whole queue of moving traffic, just to let out one car that has just arrived at a junction - wait for a more natural gap in the traffic and you'll get out.

I didn't say anything about pulling out around me and back in. I'm talking more of when you're overtaking in the middle lane with a good amount of space in front of you, and then someone from the left lane swerves in at the last second!

I don't expect people to just stop and would always wait for a 'natural' gap in moving traffic. The traffic queue I'm talking about is a queue that isn't moving. It's stopped most of the time. The lights at the end of the road let 3-4 cars out at a time. You don't get a 'natural' gap at that time in the morning. You are purely at the mercy of the main road users!

Façade - Not sure how you would tell my car is diesel from front or back, there are no Diesel badges anywhere, maybe because Ford realised badging it as an STD would be a bit of a mistake.
It has no smoke at all (only done 200 miles since last Friday) my 2014 ST2 Petrol smoked like mad in cold weather

If I can't smell it, I wouldn't be able to tell, that's the whole point of my comment.

I can't tell until it is in front of me whether it is an eco-friendly spring flower diesel, or the sort we get round here (you get used to the smell of chip-fat eventually :D)

  • who are the worst in your area - for sheffield area my choices would be:-

    1 - Taxi Drivers
    2- BMW drivers
    3 - 4x4 drivers/audi drivers

For pembrokeshire area I would say the worst are:

    1) Taxi Drivers - They think they own the road, never indicate, going at least 40-50 in a 20 zone (that 20 zone in our town is past a primary school!!), tailgate you and more than once i have been reversing out of a parking space and instead of waiting for me to finish they go around me and on to the pavement just because they're too much of a nobhead to wait a few seconds!!

    2) White Van Men - enough said!!

    3) Old People - Driving 30 miles under the speed limit, not dipping their headlights at night and blinding you, taking forever to turn into a junction and a most recent one pulling out of a junction without looking and writing my car off :mad:

People who use their hazard warning lights incorrectly. Not when their car is broken down or to warn about traffic jam in front.

Few days ago someone driving in opposite direction to me decided to switch on hazard lights because he/she decided to reverse into driveway. He didn't care, that cars travelling in opposite direction don't see his reversing light or are on main road and he has to give way to them whilst he is intending to revrerse. I wouldn't think - instead of indicating and waiting I just put my hazard lights on and don't give a f*** about others.

some ppl just think - I'll switch my hazard lights and do whatever I want.

I had a row with a taxi driver a while back as I was making a delivery to a house in a very narrow road and had to block the road for 2 minutes. He told me in no uncertain terms that I was rude and arrogant and he will report me to head office, then he started effing and jeffing...I just left him standing there talking to himself and carried on with my work.

I was once driving to work and went past a young bloke who had stopped on a junction and put his hazard lights on, he hadn't broke down and he only put them to stop and talk to his friend:mad:

my point exactly, although it would have been funny to watch him trying to argue to himself :rotfl:

You should see the black cab drivers in central London, they will stop anywhere to pick up a fare. This includes blocking both lanes by stopping diagonally or even in the middle of traffic lights or zebra crossings etc etc.

    .

I think the public have a misunderstanding of taxi drivers.

Apart from the illegal acts you describe above, taxi drivers are allowed to pick up/drop off fares, at times, that may be a nuisance to other road users but they have a licence that permits this.

Of course things will never run smooth on the roads as it is the very nature for taxi drivers to ply their trade on roads with moving traffic.

Unfortunately, there is a difference between taxi drivers and the general road user which the general road user seems unable to grasp.
