Do you have to ask to use one - if they have them then I'm a bit p'eed off they never told me about them when they turned me away from the counter and told me I couldn't cash in the bagged and counted cash!!
If they've got one its in the main room by the cash machines.
It depends on the size of the branch. I live in London which obviously tends to get new technology earlier but I have seen the same machines in Birmingham, leeds and manchester in the last few months.
It depends where you live.
If you contact your bank they can tell you where your nearest one is.0 -
JReacher1 perhaps you should check your posts for errors before calling anyone an idiot.0

we have one in bother our Lloyds Bank and Barclays Bank. They are great, you just place your cashcard/debit card into the machine and add your coins/notes or cheque and you even get a printout of your cheque and these show instantly in your account. Great if their is a large queue for cashiers.
the only issue is that our Lloyds Bank had 3 ATMs in the branch, when they did the refurb they replaced one of the ATMs with this coin machine
Do you really?
I see an edit...thank you. Capitals and full stops could perhaps be more regular?0 -

I assume you're a disgruntled ex poster who has come back after being banned....
Chill everyone knew what the post meant and there is no need to be a prat about it due to a spelling mistake (which is possibly just down to auto correct anyway).0 -

It seems there are some coin counting machines in 140 of my High Street bank branches - however, the bank concerned don't appear to have a location list readily available and what info I have found about them suggests they are all in large cities - Of course what those who live in large cities perhaps don't realise is that those of us in towns are lucky if we still have an ATM - let alone a coin counter - what with all the local branches being closed down n all...my bank announced another 7 branches to close in towns near me by June. Would be ironic if they stopped using coin counters because of money laundering...:rotfl:
However, this is useful info I wouldn't have known if I hadn't posted so thanks.0 -

This paranoid attitude to money laundering is going too far. And how can they trace which person whacked in counterfeit coins if dozens of people used the machine that day?“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

I think we know who the tool is
Several times on this thread you have been far too abusive for what is essentially a community style forum. With zero evidence you have accused someone of lying without putting the slightest thought into the fact that, had you read what they posted correctly and considered the forum on which they posted, such a lie would be futile. You have offered nothing of substance or help and seem intent on showing yourself to be little but a troll.
Your claim of coinstar type machines in banks is incorrect. HSBC and certain other bank branches have a machine which you can pay into, but it does not count the coins, I live in Manchester so can safely assume it is a big enough city to compare your claim to. The bags of cash are removed by staff and checked on their scales, any which are incorrect have the amount adjusted in the account they were paid into.
As MSE members, our position is not, I believe, to judge on a fellow members honesty but to offer useful (and friendly!) advice and qualified assistance wherever we can. As you appear to have done neither you're not really offering anything, are you?
For the benefit of the OP, your first thing should be to check the machine for clearly visible notices that you much cash in any voucher within the timescale on the receipt, if it is not made clear (either missing completely, small lettering or positioned in such a way you could not REASONABLY be expected to notice it). If it fails on this, then write to the store manager saving a copy. If the store manager fails to address your complaint, then write to customer services at head office stating why you are not happy with the response form the store and enclose both the copy you made and also a copy of the reply. Recorded delivery may be advisable.0
