  • Oh I would just ignore her MILS are funny. Mine has come over from abroad has been staying with me for past 3 months AAArrrrgggghhhh (just to add I have only been married for 6 months) She makes silly comments all the time and treats my hubby as if he is 2 years old. Can't wait for her to go back so I can resume my normal newly married life :/

Really?! Who on earth moves in with newly weds after 3 months?! And who lets their mother move in then?! the mind truly boggles. I sincerely hope she goes home sharpish!!

OP - Even if something was meant by it (and I'm not sure it was) does it matter? As long as you and DH know you've done enough.
FWIW I work full time, unless there was very serious illness my DH looks after himself during the day, and would expect to.

Hubby is not well at the moment, he has a lung infection. MIL calls up and whilst chatting, asks "so is (me) looking after you, or are you having to look after yourself?

I am seeing your MILs comment from another perspective. I think it casts more of her doubts on your husbands ability to cope and take care of his basic needs than there being any swipe on you.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
