  • Also on the diet train ~wave~ 79lbs down right now (I was 103lbs down at one point but I fell off the wagon for 6 months). Onwards and downwards diary babes! X

    wow - that's brilliant, well done!! :j

No change on my scales this morning, but my energy is better. Had a mahoosive dinner of pork chops, asparagus in loads of butter, spinach and cauli. Nice! I've also come across a potentially useful website: paleomom.com which is stuffed full of interesting recipes.

Had to take DD to the dentist this morning, she's got an abscess. All sorted now, and she was so good. And then her piano lesson tonight. DH's birthday tomorrow and he's away (he works away Mon-Thurs every week), so must remember to ring him in the morning!! :o

    I've reached a milestone on CC1.. 20% paid off! That's since 1st Feb. Go me! :T

MeandO you don't have to eat fish if you don't want to! :)

    Hello lovely

Just catching up!! Well done on not putting any weight on! Fab news! MeandO paleo os a great diet. Mine is a bit more strict that paleo as no fruit allowed for a while and I have to stick mainly to dark green leafy veggies. My carb count should be below 30gms a day and my sugars less than 15gms of that. While it sounds restrictive, as Stepup can attest, once you are over the initial 'OMG WHERE IS MY SUGAR' stage that your body throws at you complete with headaches that can only be overcome by sticking with it and drinking your bodyweight in water, the total energy increase kicks in and you feel much better. It takes planning, and more eating than I think you are used to, especially in the first few sugar craving days, but once you figure out what to cook you can start a nice selection up. I don't eat much fish but I have made an effort on this one. However if I cut the fish I could just increase my oils in other ways, nuts, meat and supplements. The good thing is to balance your omega 6 and omega 3. The ratio should be 2:1 or 1:1 of Omega 6 to 3, you can go up to 4:1 but don't have more omega 3 than 6 or it knocks you!

Step your dinner sounds lovely, and no eating out doesn't kill it off! I ate out Sunday and had a giant mixed grill!!! :D I got rid of the chips and onion rings and had a couple of peas, half a grilled tomato and my mushroom with it :D was very nice, very filling and I didn't feel overly stuffed!

Ali I did think you might quite enjoy the paleo lifestyle but it is finding the time to batch cook tonnes of meat, plus overfilling your fridge with so much greenery!!

Right really must try and sleep. Night night xx

  • I've heard great things about paleo, I haven't tried it myself but I did do Atkins about 10 years ago which has a lot of similarities and lost 5st in 9 months and felt great on it.

I am doing low calorie this time but I do try to manage my carbs as I know it has an effect not only on my weight loss but my energy and appetite are better with less carbs. I think I need to start checking out some of the diet forums so I know where to get my bargains!

Paleo does sound great, I've had a wee look at it, but I really don't think I'm at the stage where I can cope with all the planning at the moment to be honest. Maybe some day!
I'll stick to my WW online for now and see how that goes, I'm definitely making wiser food choices AND, amazingly (after going off the rails last week) I've lost another 1.5lbs :T
Back on track with bells on! :D

Well done you Me&O and jackie that is an incredible weight loss on Atkins. Mine is similar to Atkins phase 1, but hopefully I can make it a lot more paleo after a few months and start adding back some colourful veg!!!

Me&O it takes a ridiculous amount of planning to get stuff sorted :( and I am continually wondering what to eat. I need to do a meal plan. Maybe that can be my task for today so I know what is what!! xx

  • Hello lovely peeps! :hello:

Rubbish day at work (too many muppets).. But got home to a fab letter from the lettings agency telling me how much £ I'm going to get tmrw. It's a good month! :T so much so that I can pay a big chunk to my HMRC fund, get some euros for summer hols, give a bit to OH, and still pay a chunk off my Cc1. Hurrah!!

Diet wise... Meh. Energy still very low, and I've had a dull headache all day. I know this is my body still wanting sugar and carbs but I'm not giving in, oh no! So drinking lots of water, and planning warm chicken and broccoli salad for my tea. Like Lilty though, I need to sit down and plan my food a bit better I think. Time to scour t'internet for paleo dinners :D

    Xx

Amazing news about the lettings for the month!!! :T well done :)

My diet was going great until I missed one meal and that was my downfall. Apparently it is very important to get LOTS of protein for breakfast, think three eggs with sausage and bacon... and avocado. :rotfl:

My energy levels have dropped and the sugar cravings have reared their head again so I have been eating away like an odd squirrel today. I also found out that mushrooms, curly kale, savoy cabbage and broccoli which have been staples of my daily diet are all on the 'occasionally' list :wall: so I need to do yet more rejigging. I think in the face of this I am off to do yet more research (just worked out my lean body mass!!) on ketogenic diets. It is much more restricted than paleo but what is required for my migraines so I need to do it properly and not lapse into what loses me weight as that isn't my main goal much as it is necessary!

Big mega hugs. You're doing fab and your dinner sounds lovely. Mine was smoked cod with a parmesan topping, on savoy cabbage (:() broccoli (:() kale (:() and courgette or as the americans insist 'zucchini' :rotfl:

  • I love make zoodles for stir fry! Courgettes (zucchini) through the spiraliser do they are like noodles, in a stir fry you can't tell the difference and a fraction of the calories and carbs of real noodles. I got my spiraliser for about a fiver delivered off eBay.

I had a spiraliser and threw it out a few months ago. It was a gift from a nasty old woman and more like something that I would slice myself to pieces with as I just wound ridiculously sharp blades into things. Being left-handed I am not good with that stuff.. and then Jelly wandered through with it; the equivalent of her holding a throwing star in her hand and I just flung it.

Is yours automatic jackie?? I have to stay under 100g of courgette as ell on this stupid diet but I am beginning to warm to this idea, especially as my mum wants to buy it for me! :D

  • :hello: hi everyone

Hope you're all ok? I'm pretty good - have made an OP to CC1, not as big as I'd hoped, but then I have bought 300 euros for hols, paid into my HMRC savings, paid into my other savings, bought DH a birthday present, and paid off my OD.. so not too shabby :)

Am almost at 10k steps today, and have eaten really well. Breakfast was avocado and eggs, lunch was a ham salad, and for dinner I had chicken (again!) but this time with kale and leeks, and garlic mushrooms.. nom nom nom. DD had the same with some pasta.

In other MSE news.. I think my energy supplier switch might finally be going through. It's only been in progress since February  so I'm not terribly impressed.

What else?.. um.. 2 of the chickens are broody, which is irritating as they don't lay then, and they deter the others from using the nest boxes :rotfl: which means I have to go on an egg hunt tomorrow to see where the others have been laying :) I might leave them in the run tomorrow (they sometimes get the run of the garden and sometimes not) and see if that boosts the number of eggs :D
