This girl wants me to go see "fifty shades of grey" with her

I have never even read the book, but for some reason she seems adamant she wants me to go with her to view it. I have only known her for just over a couple weeks, so why would she want to go see such a film with me? I asked her but she said that it would be fun, although i don't think it would be for me.

I mean i'm all for watching !!!!!! with a girl, but i don't even like romantic comedies and this is far from one of those. The more i read about it, the more it just sounds like a middle aged, sexually repressed woman's ideal fantasy brought to the big screen.

We have been on dates, i've shown my intent (as not to be friend zoned!) but i don't see why she wouldn't go see it with her mum or friends, or female co-workers etc, not with a guy :eek

Are any of the women here going to see it with a male companion?

It's a film about sex and you're wondering why she wouldn't rather see it with her mum?!

It's aimed at women, though, no? I thought it's women who bought the book, so why would it appeal to guys? I would rather just do that kind of thing with a girl if she really is insistent on trying it, but watching a film about it...why? With !!!!!!, at least you can get some ideas from it, i.e. different positions etc, but watching a film about sex in a movie theatre with 100 other people seems a bit strange to me.

Are you telling me that you would watch it in a movie theatre surrounded by other people?

Well the obvious solution is to invite her round to your place for a !!!!!! watching session instead, be a gentleman and provide Kleenex though.

Haha, what? There are families out there who are VERY open minded and comfortable with that sort of thing :rotfl:

Dates aren't always about just doing what you may want to; you know the subject matter of the film, and it may be something to provide an insight into her fantasies - in a more subtle way than just !!!!!! (theres quite a big difference between such desires)...

Yep, I think that sums it up - it's a no brainer! Take her - find out what are her favourite parts - hopefully they'll tie in (pun intended) with your 'favourites'!

Maybe she's hinting that you are not being passionate enough, or perhaps she wants a bit more imagination.

    Good luck.

Yes, as its a film its not really about getting your rocks off whilst watching - otherwise Id seriously worry about what standard of cinema you go to..

porns not really an aid to the romance side of the relationship - and is probably quite damaging to watch, whilst your thinking its giving you 'pointers' (oh dear),, most could find it embarrassing and cringy in terms of there own self image and the comparisons that most would be making in checking out whats on screen, and to whats real.

understand that its more about emotional stimulation rather than straight out physical gratification and you might fare better..
