After letting Eon rape me for years with their continual price increases I've finally sat down today and been on the comparison sites and switched to this crowd under the promise of being able to save me around £400 per year based on my last 12 months usage.

The reviews thus far are a bit concerning so this could be a baptism of fire  but time will tell.

    Hi all.

Now a couple of months later since I begun the switch from Eon. No complaints here at all. Switch went smooth without any issues and I was periodically kept up to date via email of the progress. There was a rather uneasy period after submitting my initial readings where I didn't hear anything for nearly a month but then a fresh request for readings at the start of this month came through. I submitted those 2 days ago and have just received my first bill via PDF today and everything is in order. Bill is clear, concise and accurate. My only (very minor) gripe is that it would've been nice to have been informed when the switch was complete. No issues experienced submitting readings on their site like others have reported either.

    Good job GB! :T

I find them good too - no problems since the switch from the nightmare EE energy. Doubtless they'll struggle when more join - seems to be a predictable path for these small companies.

One of the advantages of these smaller companies is that i never get my meter read , they just use my readings. With the bigger companies they never took my word for it and trailed through the house every couple of months - pain in the backside.
  • I have been with them months and never received a statement. They always replied to emails and spoke on the phone but never seemed to fix the problem.

I have now solved the problem for them. I was using a hotmail address and that seems to be the problem. Not sure why they could not figure this out as surely i am not unique. Anyway switched to another email address and now received the monthly reminder to provide meter reading and then a pdf statement.

They are still the cheapest so now its finally all working as it should then satisfied. Still no online statements though but at least a pdf copy is provided which is enough for me.

GB should look at what First Utility do as their website was by far the best i have seen. Graphs and stuff it was the only energy provider i missed after i left them :-)

You are way to busy to take a meter reading and type it into a website? it probably won't take you any longer than to sign in and type a post on here......

Do you watch TV, do it during a commercial break, if you have Sky you can probably do both Gas and Electricity and make a coffee during one break
You really did make me LOL! So true! Thanks :)

Bit of an issue where I couldn't enter meter readings as the estimates they'd made were higher than my actual reads. Was through to customer service in about 20 seconds, readings corrected and a new bill sent through instantly. So - despite the slight glitch, putting it right was painless. That certainly wouldn't have happened with my previous supplier who claimed that bills could only be generated on the 27th of the month...

Website's a bit basic at the moment, but it does the job, so I'm quite happy with them for the time being.

  • Switch to GB E completed quite smoothly about a month ago away from the God awful coop who are still struggling with the concepts of final billing and rebates.

All well until first bill which was generated on estimated readings despite up to date readings being submitted as email requested. Emailed customer services, supplying fresh readings which showed that estimates overegged my usage. Within 48 hours, received email with clear explanation that bills are generated automatically on 9th of month. Asked to submit monthly meter readings on the 9th of the month or just prior so that the actual readings will be the ones used. Very good, I know where I am now. Although I agree with others that the website could be more active and interactive. But on the whole, considering what else is out there....

I can't use their website for inputting meter reads because it always tells me that my readings are too high. That's because they've set my predicted annual usage for gas at £156 and electricity at £250. The website works out what it thinks you should use using these figures, they tell me, but despite understanding the problem they won't or can't change it. This annoys me far more than it should.

When I email the readings they don't always take notice of them and send a bill based on their estimate which is always ridiculously low and I have to get them to send another bill. I've given up doing that now and will just leave it and work out real bills myself to check that my DD is keeping up okay.

Odd that they think I'll use £400 a year fuel but are happy to take £74 a month DD. And in conclusion, they are no worse than any other supplier.

I just got an email saying they've lowered their prices but my November bill had a lower standing charge than October's. So is this it and they are telling us late or is there another reduction to come? Prices on the website haven't changed again.

I haven't seen that email but believe its a 2nd reduction - their home page is now quoting £787 as the 'sample' cost - before this it was £799 and £831 (from memory)
