BM, A HGV can easily do 60mph, all you need is a heavy load and a slight gradient and you are there. It is only 4mph from the limited speed and I have seen some irish trucks do 80 on a motorway.
Also, if you have a tacho calibrated on slick tyres and put some brand new ones on, your road speed would be about 58/59 when the vehicle thinks it is doing 56
This could get to a 6 pager at this rate

I always increase the gap in front of me to way more then needed to stop, then no matter how close someone is behind you, you ain't going to stop to quickly for them. Assuming they are awake of course.
OP if the HGV was so close how did you see nothing was coming along the third lane when you moved to the right?0 -
This is exactly the kind of discussion you generally get on the main motoring forum. Which is where this should be. It would be up to about 20 pages on there by now...Je suis Charlie.0

And clearly not move across to lane 2/3/4 to let the lorry pass on the wrong side, which is illegal and dangerous.
The OP seems to want us to condone his illegal driving because of his mitigation.
In what way?0
