Tell you what fellas, this forum is about 'parking', and in my experience there ain't much parking going on at 60mph!

Hope you can navigate the roads better than you seem to be able to navigate MSE. :rotfl:

Suggest you get a Forum Guide to 'park' this in a more appropriate bay!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Average cameras do not measure your speed between every single set of cameras - quite simply because whether there 2, 6, 7 or 10 sets of camera, only 2 are likely to be live over any given normal stretch (these can be identified at night by the floodlights accompanying them).

So, if on your bit of road you only had three sets of camera before the end of the average speed limit, it measures your average between 1 and 3 - do you think you did 56 or above between those two ?

If the average speed stretch started prior to your being 'pushed', then your average is likely to measure from the first camera to the last ...

There is no definitive answer - wait with bated breath for 14 days - and see if you got away with it.

In most cases, you would get away with it ... Due to the distances, number of camera, speedo over-reads, etc combined.

The next time, be more aggressive, slow down more than you need to ... They aren't going to back end you unless you slam on the brakes. Just slow down gradually and then speed up again with a gap between your vehicle and their's. If they close up again, slow down even more.

Even the thickest will get the message or move over to a different lane to bother someone else.

Or you could just move to a different lane.

No matter how busy, put your indicator on and wait - someone will let you in.

Hell, I'm an extremely aggressive driver and likely to block anyone from pushing into my lane, but if someone is indicating and waiting for a gap (as opposed to shoving in wherever they feel like), I'll let them in.

    Lets not be pedantic.

Nope ..Being pedantic would be asking how long it has been that vehicles behind yours have been controlling the speed.

Drive at the speed you feel safe doing and stick to it ..the lorry has a choice ..let the driver make it ,he can slow down or overtake you..You are using the excuse of being intimidated to excuse your speeding ..If that is how you drive ..you shouldn't be driving
  • If it was a 50 and the truck was limited to 56 you should be okay. I know my speedo reads over 60 when I am keeping pace with artics.

@ PETIE Good try but the cameras see well into infrared and have IR illuminators fitted next to them. The IR "floods" the front of vehicles and is reflected back off the front plates. The headlights do not affect the ability of the cameras to "see" in the dark.

@OP I'm afraid its a case of waiting your 14 days - assuming that your vehicle isn't from a fleet/lease in which case your wait might be somewhat longer (first NIP will usually go to the fleet manager/lease company).
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I could not have slowed down he was THAT close. As I said I'm not looking for excuses I'm also not looking for a debate, just info.

Maybe it was my fault but if I had slowed down I would be talking to my insurance about a bump or crash.

It was a 40mph average speed check and it is a leased car.

  • If a vehicle is close behind you, slow down gently...

Or light your brakelights without slowing down.

Most people don't want the front of their vehicle damaged.

what time was it? was it dark?

unless they have changed in the last couple of years, they do not work in the dark as they see from the front and headlights blind them.

I used to drive M6/M5 route every weekend and on occasion went faster than 'the limit' never had any problems
    Absolute nonsense
