Morgan Stanley CC 3% cashback NOT BEING HONOURED
Comments
-
I've had a Morgan Stanley card for 11 months now with no problems regarding the 3% cashback (Before Goldfish) However, there was a major problem with my first DD payment not reaching them through no fault of my own. I was charged interest and late fees and the whole thing became messy and complicated. They did admitt to a technical problem at their end and I was eventually refunded.
The latest issue for me is the introduction of a £20 annual fee which having my status reviewed decided not to charge me for the next 12 months. I telephoned them yesterday to enquire about this and was told that the fee will be due and debited from my account next June 2008.
Some of you planning to cancel your card are wondering if you'll lose any outstanding cashback that's below £15. I think you will. By the same token I'm wondering if I cancel my card now will I proportionally have to pay part of this fee. As I pay by DD I could cancel if I have no payments due but I wonder if my credit rating will decrease if they seek payment for the fee.
Morgan Stanley have gone from one of the best cards to the worst. It wouldn't surprise me if their free phone number shifts to premium rate.0 -
Hi, I also had the same problem. I pointed it out in february to them. After several telephone calls and several letters, they have paid me 2 lots of £25 compensation amounts, and have also credited my account with the £20 they have not included in my cashback, and still have promised to correct my cashback. Cashback is still however not corrected, but have had £70 in compensation for this, so Ive given up asking them and switched to a different card.
Im assuming as its a Platinum one I dont need to pay the £20 yearly fee(?) as Ive not been informed of this.
My advice is to keep writing/emailing them and dont give up.....

I had the same problem with them, I had every excuse under the sun each time I rang them Computer Glitch- Fault in the software-Unable to rectify this etc etc. In the end after several months of complaining I threatened involving the FSA. They paid up pronto. I asked them to CANCEL the card, but I note from my credit file that they havnt even done this correctly. Perhaps their accounts dept is as bad as British Gas!!!!!!!!!!0

I had the same problem back in March! I phoned them up, told them where they'd gone wrong, and credited my account for the right amount within a week, after an extra nag.
Whoever I spoke to didn't seem too bright, and ended up giving me an extra fiver, by my calculations. I figure maybe my calculations weren't optimistic enough, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt

Well if they are going to charge me anything even resembling an annual fee on the platinum cashback card, I am going to be cancelling indefinitely. I will pester them though a few more times by post and e-mail. So far they've just fobbed me off with a standard letter on their complaints policy but nothing like a compensation or similar coming my way.
I am concerned however about being rejected for a CapitalOne cashback card. I've not been rejected before for anything, so I'm wondering what my chances are with CapitalOne.0 -
I've just checked my online statement for September, and judging by the size of "this months" cashback earnings, it looks like they have finally managed to sort out their calculations - the total earnings to date looks about right
I hope everyone else if finding the same...0 -
Luckily I had no problems receiving my cashback award. Trouble is, I received £30 and then had to pay annual fee so that left me with a tenner! Didn't think it was worth it really, just waiting til I get to £15 again (nearly there) then I'm cancelling my card.0

Like Kate I was notified of the annual charge which I reckon is just another way to claw back the benefits of the promotion. I have just cancelled this card and am awaiting a cheque for £60 which is now actually £40 - due to the annual charge. Think i'm going to stick with the 0% deals and keep the cash in a high interest account. Much better for the wallet!0
