Well I called them today and was told that the systems problem was rectified last week and that the correct figure should show up on my next statement (due at the end of the month).

I'll still believe it when I see it though.....

Meanwhile I'm expecting another Goldfish card (replacement for Liverpool Victoria card). Hmm will I bother to activate it? Answers in two letters please....

Are we going to believe them, Money Savers?
  • I am always prepared to believe anything anyone says - until proven othrewise!

In any event, today is "D-Day" - unless there is a cheque for my £15 in today's post, it gets escalated to the FO.

I have just had another thought - I stopped using my MS card at the end of July, so have had one (and will possibly have another) statement with a zero balance. Therefore, as no payment(s) have been made, this should show as one or even two "?"s on my credit history!

Good luck with that. Please do let us know how you get on. That goes for the FO as well. Do you know how you intend to complain to them, if it comes to that?

Yes, this had occurred to me so I made a couple of purchases on the card over the weekend. I don't intend to use it that much though as I will be closing it within the next month or so. However, I wasn't aware that MS sent statements out when you have a zero balance - I know Nationwide certainly don't do this.
  • I am currently having a browse around the FO website and first impressions are very good - clear, easy to navigate, and the formatting of the downloaded complaint form doesn't go to pot when you fill in the boxes!

I shouldn't think that 1 or 2 more ?s would be too "mission critical". There are already quite a few on my ASDA card, as I have been using my old MS and current Capital One cards for petrol, because the 3% and 4% cashback is more than the 2.13% to 2.18% discount.

Thanks, Stephen. Have you decided to go for the FO option then?

O yes. Unless the cheque is on the doormat when I get back from work, of course.

I decided that when I drafted the LBA. If I am not prepared to carry out a threat, I don't make it in the first place. I was always taught to never put the pistol back into the holster unused.

So, did you get the cheque, Stephen?
  • No, and I haven't faxed off the FO complaint form and copy letters either, as I've been unwell and off work for yesterday & today. Maybe tororrow.

As an update to my situation I got a reply from them today by post, in line with my request that they get back to me within 7 days.... the letter just went on to say that they are dealing with my complaint and will be in touch soon.
